We should really define what a Turkey is then. Sales? A disappointment? Something that sucked compared to it's predecessor (although I don't believe this is a good way to ever review any game). Bugs? Because for as much as I love the delicious agonising about the dark side of the force, KOTOR is only the second Xbox game I have played that had a horrendous crash bug that I experienced.

Although to be fair GTA:VC wiped my entire data through a nasty "accidentally save on a motorbike glitch". Gutted. And Ikaruga has crashed on me and the sound does mess up a fair bit.

And yeah, MP has atmosphere by the bucket loads and is gorgeous, but I can't exactly say it is technically proficient. The in game loading times take the piss. And when all it does is lead to another empty corridor that leads onto another empty corridor, all with often hefty loading times, that takes the biscuit.

Id have to say the gba sp is the turkey of the year, not because its a bad machine, but buying one brought to light how embarrassingly awful most gba games are.

i can find metroid, the castlevanias, mario remakes, advance wars and wario ware. thats it. everything else is just pure childish crap with ?34.99 stuck on the box.

Look at it this way. It is a good ?100+ rechargeable torch.

Not released this year (I haven't bought any really bad games in ages) but Sonic Adventure 2: Battle. The controls alone are fatally flawed without starting on the camera or the inexplicable move to a straight level structure.

Biggest disappointment for me this year would have to be Metroid Prime. I just couldn't get into it at all. I appreciate that the graphics are phenomenal and it has it's quirks, but it's not what was promised really. I think in my own mind I hyped it too much, and read too much into other people's hype, which is something I have learned from now.

Muchos Gracias for creating a thread on this

I've had an odd year on games - so my comments probably won't mesh with other people's much

                Some contenders first

Metroid Prime - I simply don't see what the fuss is about. It's not a bad game - and not really a turkey - but I got bored and quit and it's definately no Halo. I wonder if people are just amazed it didn't suck?

Jak 2 - this has to be a contender - a formula "nick other people's ideas" game which takes ALL the fun out of platforming - a soulless drudge of a game and on-a-par with The Getaway for technology over gameplay.

The Thing - despite the awards I thought this was a horrible, horrible mess of a game frankly.

But opening the envelope I think we find

Tomb Raider AOD - this HAS to be the turkey of the year - it absolutely and utterly STINKS!!

I'd rather play the original frankly, and it seems the publishers agree with me for once

                  I'd say Metroid Prime.
The game started out great, gorgeous graphics, lovly tunes and Samus made of polygons but eventually I got bored.
I didn't find any joy in playing after some hours

ARRRGGHHH!! What's wrong with you people?
Have you never played a real game in your lives?
So you didn't like Metroid Prime?

                    I'd say Metroid Prime.

That sounds to me like you didn't like it, not that it was a turkey.

There's a difference between something that you don't like, and something that is genuinely bad.

Pokemon? Zelda? Broken Sword? FZero? Mario Kart? Tony Hawk?

All in, that's about 16 must have titles for the GBA... that's damn good. Yeap, there's loads of crap on it.. but... that's the same for all the consoles.

Turkey of the year? Enter the Matrix or Tomb Raider.. both sold tons to the uneducated and drove another nail into the decent gaming coffin.

Metriod Prime? You're all nuts, i dont understand how anyone can nominate it for Turkey of the year.

Hardware wise, id say GBA SP, I dont enjoy the machine at all. I bought pokemon ruby and found it to be too similar to previous pokemon games, I then bought advanced wars 2 which done absolutely nothing for me, so i sold the SP a few weeks ago.

As for games, i would say Brute Force is my turkey of the year, dear lord what a complete mess that game was. Art was horrendous, the level design is some of the worst i've experienced, the game actually made me depressed.

Someone had to try and be controversial by nominating a game they personally didn't like very much.

In a year of true turkeys like Primal, Vexx and Enter The Matrix, anyone who says Metroid Prime is either on crack or lying.

Or dont buy rubbish like Primal, Vexx, or Enter The Matrix.

Why do people buy these games anyhow?

                              Metroid Prime?

While we're on the subject, when will the big 2003 awards poll be online?

It got a great review here and it's one of my games of the year. One of the few games I have ever actually completely finished as well.

Back to topic. My turkey of the year was Evolution Snowboarding. I reviewed it and think I was too easy on it. It should have got 1/10. I cannot imagine any mainstream game being as bad as this was. Gives me the shivers.
