How the hell has Metroid Prime got in with the contenders???
I have to admit, I wasn't exactly overwhelmed by the game either (there was too much back-tracking/re-spawning of enemies for my liking)... Having said that, just because I dislike it doesn't mean it's a bad game. Objectively speaking, it's a lot better than some of the complete garbage being thrown out there this year.
For me, the wining turkey has to be Enter The Matrix.
A truly awful experience.

Prine...
As for games, i would say Brute Force is my turkey of the year, dear lord what a complete mess that game was. Art was horrendous, the level design is some of the worst i've experienced, the game actually made me depressed
Brute Force is one of the few games I have finished this year. I really enjoyed it.
My contender for Turkey (at the moment I hasten to add) is.....
Let me say at the outset that Tiger Woods (among others) have spoilt me as far as control in golf games is concerned.
I provisionally nominate Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour. This resorts to the "tried and tested" button pressing type of play. Default is automantic play as well. You press A to start and press A to define strength and that is it. For manual you need to press the A to start and then B to mark the strength and B for the actual hit. Trouble is for a shorter shot there can be a very small time window between the A and B presses for a manual shot... argh!!!
I will be checking GameFAQs to see if the situation can be improved upon so I may yet withdraw my nomination!!!

Exactly. Of course I'd dispute all 3 there... great gameplay, perfect controls (personally anyone complaining about them is trying to play it like a FPS, which as we know, it isn't) and definitely lives up to any hype it was given. Good reason why it was my game of the year for 2002...Lie with passion and be forever damned...

Id have to say the gba sp is the turkey of the year, not because its a bad machine, but buying one brought to light how embarrassingly awful most gba games are.
i can find metroid, the castlevanias, mario remakes, advance wars and wario ware. thats it. everything else is just pure childish crap with ?34.99 stuck on the box.

In a year of true turkeys like Primal, Vexx and Enter The Matrix, anyone who says Metroid Prime is either on crack or lying.
Why do people buy these games anyhow?

Me I`d go for Enter the Matrix. I didn`t want to because in a way it`s so very verybad it`s almost good. But then I think of what a good developer might have done with it and get angry. Tomb Raider was bad, but not nearly as fatally ugly/slow/dull/tedious/idiotic as ETM for me.
I`m not sure we can argue about games we just didn`t like for Toty...because Metroid is a god game, it just doesn`t appeal to everyone. but then again Mario/Zelda/rez etc don`t either. By the same token I really liked PDO as well.
Anyways: Enter The Matrix hacked into and stuffed full of paxo I rest my case.
