    Beat Marvel vs Capcom!

    *Henman fist*

Onslaught is such a cheap final boss, but I managed to beat him in an equally cheap way. I chose Ryu and Wolverine and just kept low and chipped away at his health during the first form, and then hit him as I jumped back for the second.

Kind of hit a wall with Soul Reaver and Alone in the Dark so I'm giving them a rest for awhile.

I did however start a new game of Tokyo Highway Challenge. I went for the Skyline last time and couldn't progress any further with the races, so I think this time I may just go for the Subaru and tune it to the max.

I didn't mind Under Defeat in the end but struggled to see why everyone went nuts for it when the HD version came out. It's a bit fiddly with the angle aiming and detection seems off with sometimes bullets passing through my helicopter and other times blowing it up on the spot. It was okay but not the greatest.

Next up I briefly tried Project R which is a Knucklesesque BOR title. Glitchy as hell and awful.

Randomly shuffled my discs up and the next title in the drive is.... Half-Life: Opposing Forces

Tried Half-Life: Opposing Forces but it was pretty much a waste of time, I can only assume it was ported from an earlier version of the title as it was bugged to hell.

Next up was racing game Zusar Vusar:

You first, select your course, then route, then mechanic sea creature, then water sled, then difficulty before getting near a race and it seems to make little difference except to draw out your ability to actually play the game. The gameplay is pretty poor too and courses seem to reuse the same sections repeatedly to make up a track. Pretty awful.

Next up is another BOR game: Metal Slug Resistance

Managed some time on the old DC this weekend. Tried out Metal Slug Resistance, it looks good at a glance but the DC version is chronically crippled by slowdown. So I moved on to Speed Devils. The game looks a little primative these days, some of the models look PS1 level with textures pasted onto everything so sometimes it can be a little awkward seeing where the road bends but generally it plays well and the tracks have lots of things going on. Good times.

Next was going to be Open Sonic, however once again the DC version was crippled by slowdown so it didn't last long. So, onto Radirgy, it was okay but a bit basic. Trigger Heart Exelica was better, easy unless on a higher difficulty but it looks good and the soundtrack is great.

The next disc is the homebrew port of Sam and Max: Hit the Road. I'll give it a go but I'm not in the mood for a whole point and click.

Brought my DC to my new flat yesterday along with my joypad(I think I only have the one, anyway) and JP keyboard. Forgot Jet Set Radio at the house so that'll have to wait. Also a while ago I threw out all my copied games so I'm left with:

            Crazy Taxi
            Daytona
            Fighting Vipers 2
            Resi CV(JP/US)
            Shenmue JP
            Sonic Adventure
            Soul Calibur
            Typing of the Dead JP
            Virtual On

and probably some others, all my stuff's in a CD wallet.

Wanted to break it all out yesterday but was too knackered so hopefully tonight I can demo my TotD skills for my new flatmate arriving today. Can't wait to hear the DC bootup sound through the hifi speakers. It's gonna be special

Did you manage to get through CV, billy? I remember you mentioning you had been playing through in the Resi thread.

lol my perpetual CV dilemma continues

No, I haven't touched it since I last posted on that thread. I'm definitely planning on resuming the save, though, which is something I've never done before. I'm still on the bit just before you jump on the plane.

Oh also I forgot to add Shenmue JP to that list.

Gave Sam and Max: Hit the Road a go. The rom works a treat and it's still an impressive game. I've put it aside for when I'm more in the mood.

Tried out Rockstar's Wild Metal. Not everything they do is good, the game is awful.

                  Next up... Blue Stinger

Decided to hook up the DC last night. First on the agenda was Typing of the Dead:

As if the awesomeness of playing it after all these months(and the added memories of playing it in Japan and getting high up on the high score table at a Sega arcade in Umeda) wasn't enough, my new flatmate who arrived yesterday walked in and said "I know this game! I play it in Japan a lot!"

Cue me losing about three lives while I came to terms with the enormity of what she'd just said.

A little while later I interrupted her unpacking so she could help me with the hydra boss(three heads, asks questions I can't understand well on a good day let alone with about 3 seconds to choose the correct answer) and what you see here is the start of the fight with the fourth level chainsaw boss. After a few hits the sentences get mahooosive and, while it doesn't look like that in-game(it's straight-up 60fps loveliness), that effect is so cool

After that I played some Soul Calibur and then went to sleep.

I am still trying to complete 18 Wheeler on all difficulty levels with all drivers and with all trailers,i have always like the game but have seen it has too smallin lengthand just a short addrenalin rush but when you set yourself a goal like this the game changes dramatically, also played a little Unreal Tournament.

18 Wheeler is ace. I remember being really impressed at the time that the stuff on the dashboard would move when in first person mode.

Typing of the Dead I haven't tried, but heard it's freakin' awesome. I think Sega released a pc port so I may try and track down a copy.

                        Good luck!

                        Decent review here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X3zU4TEw1q0

                        Love the music.

Looks almost unplayable by todays standards!

Yeah I played the pc port a while back. I had it on ps2 as well but it's 30fps on that and looks worse

Do I hear wedding bells? Or is that her rape whistle?

I started up Blue Stinger last night but had to turn it off soon after so only had time to get through the first few areas. It's clunky as hell but I can't deny it has a great charm from the off. The visuals are basic and the voice acting is awful but there's a real attempt to be epic in it and the music is brilliantly overblown at all times. Looking forward to seeing more of it.

lol I'd need to buy a second JP keyboard first!
