Capcom vs SNK is the best fighter EVAR!

    Comment

Considering the length of time I’ve played it, personally it’s got to be Tekken 3 for me.

A little detail I always loved about Capcom vs SNK were the little intros that set the scene before each stage. Well lovely.

I'm late to the party, but I'm going to set up the DC for a late summer/possible autumn of Dreamcast - I love the console to bits and fondly remember picking one up during its last summer. The Gamestation in Leeds couldn't get rid of their DC games quick enough and I remember snapping up a bunch of amazing games for peanuts. Good times.

Still yet to play Skies of Arcadia, VF3tb and a few other essentials, so I'll scour ebay later...

Thanks for the information, I guessed that AM2 were busy with Shenmue so had to pass the port on
Its a shame the Interview is no more, but it was posted on the old Dreamcast technical pages forums - which at the time was the best SEGA/DC board would could wish to be a member of .

but there was a difference in quality between the Arcade & Home Releases
It depends on the game and how long the Teams were given to port the games over . People may well go on about the DC power but Model 3 was Mighty board and had a huge advantage with its memory. That said VF 3 is all but perfect and I for the life of me can't see much if any differences with Get Bass and Virtual On II and to me Virtual Striker looks way better on NA@MI/DC than it did on the Model 3.

I'm just gutted SEGA never ported the Lost World over , which is still for me the best Light Gun game ever made

Capcom vs SNK is the best fighter EVAR!
For me its X-men COTA - Hands down the best fighter I've ever played . And to be honest I liked the 1st Virtual Fighter game the best (for 3D Fighters) and rate Last Bronx more than Soul Calibur when it came to weapon based 3D fighters

CVS1 IS amazing but the sequel is bigger and flashier so that beats it for me! Wish they would release it for xbla!!

My favourite 2D fighter is Marvel vs Capcom 2. The roster in that game is practically never ending!

I haven't seen any mention of Dead or Alive 2 as a contender for best fighter. Fair enough, it certainly lacked the depth of Virtua Fighter 3tb, but I'd say it's got slightly more meat on it's bones in terms of combat compared to Soul Calibur. Stuff like the parrying system are really easy to pick up and straight forward, and the interactive levels were a first (?) - can't recall any other 3D fighter where you could knock your opponent down a stage and continue fighting.

I think the main thing DoA 2 desperately needed was some sort of quest mode as other than arcade and survival mode there's sod all.

Pity mine isn't loading despite a mint disc!
              Toothpaste trick time. ;p

My games from buster arrived today. Autumn of Dreamcast begins with Sega Rally 2, followed by Tokyo Bus Guide I think.

DoA 2 is actually my fav ever 3D fighter. Just the right amount of action, depth and style. A better game then Tekken by miles and more fun than VF. I have the PS2 hardcore iteration which is why I wont bother with the DC version.

As for my SC disc, not a single mark on it.

For some reason DOA2 just looks better on the DC. The PS2 graphics always seemed murky and lacking in comparison.

The hardcore version came out in Japan on DC, one of the rare occassions when the japanese market got the game late.

Loving the VF3tb love here - even the intro sends shivers down my spine!

Had a blast on Virtua Fighter 3tb and Dead or Alive 2 earlier. Settled on using Akira as he seems to have the moveset most similar to that of Ryo of Shenmue. Can't get to the end though (assuming the final boss is the the reflective chap on the front cover) as my Dreamcast keeps resetting and throwing me to the launch screen - this is the only game I've encounter the problem on and it's a brand new disc. :/

Looked for the hardcore release for ages but couldn't find one so went with the normal US version. I really wanted to play as Jann Lee in his suit!

Also, I'd forgotten how piss poor the final boss Tengu, is in DoA 2. He just looks like a jumbled mess and it's a bit of an anti-climax when you make it all the way to the end in arcade mode.

The DC version of DoA 2 did look nicer overall than the PS2. The last boss was a lot better on PS2 mind with the visual effects, I liked Tengu also. I just have the PS2 version because my machine was setup and it is cheaper.

Pity Tecmo didn't implement any anti aliasing on the PS2 version.

I really love the arenas in VF3.

Actually, I've found that PAL Dreamcasts do that after a while =/

This is why I solder the PSU to the motherboard directly.

Open your Dreamcast up, it's really easy. There's probably some kind of fluff or dust on the part that senses whether the drive is open or not that you just need to get rid of
