They wouldn't of entered and the present games industry would be different today if Sega had been successful and MS not entered, thats what happens when you change the past, you alter the future or present. Have you not seen Back To The Future!!! Anyhow Sega's rep would of been much stronger if 32 bit & 128 bit consoles had been a success not to mention stronger financially. Look at how weak Nintendo were in the Cube era they even briefly stopped production of Gamecubes and fast forward 10 years and they are the market leaders and have enough cash reserves to last them decades meaning just one generation of success can be a huge difference not to mention two although i know Nintendo were never cash strapped like Sega were. Sega probably would be most similar to What Microsoft are doing now only instead of an 05 launch a 7th gen Sega machine probably would of launched a year after Nintendo and Sony at the end of 07 being similar to the 360. We are on a completely different timeline now though!!!

Didn't I just say the exact same thing more or less?

This is easily one of my favourite DC games, (never owned a fishing rod mind):

      EDIT:

I don't think I ever caught a shark like the dude playing at the end of that video, I can't remember though.

I remember Sega Bass Fishing 2 and hardly playing it, I remember being able to sail your boat freely though which was cool.

I want a DC fishing rod.

Nintendo were never weak. They gave the world Pokemon.

Cheers Randicoot, will give that a go. The Dreamcast is a multi-region US machine and I've had no problem playing other PAL games; like Tokyo Highway Challenge 2, Sonic Adventure 2, Chu Chu Rocket and so on. So I'm hoping it's just a bit of fluff like you said and not something more complicated!

I'm of this opinion too. The demise of the Dreamcast happened a fair bit after the rumour mill had already started running 'mystery X-Box from Microsoft' stories.

Interesting reading peoples posts regarding the possible DVD drive. Wasn't there a Dreamcast DVD add-on at one of the shows (TGS?), as well as a Dreamcast MP3 player; would have loved one of those!

Soul Calibur was mentioned earlier in the thread. Looking back, the presentation and quality of that game was amazing, it forced me to buy a DC when most people I knew were waiting for the PS2. Thinking about it though, I probably played Tekken 3 more than SC or any other 3d fighter. SC seemed to be perfect but kind of lacked something deeper down, for me personally. I recently played the latest Soul Calibur and I think it's the best one since the first game, although I never did play 3... It was criminal of them not to feature more TV ads with the Dreamcast Soul Calibur though, almost as insane as missing the Wimbledon deadline for Virtua Tennis.

I was actually more fond of SC2, and didn't take to SC3 at all.

Soul Calibur 2 was decent but it is marred by Todd McFarlanes horrific character design.

Also, for me, the movement feels a lot smoother on the DC analog stick over the Cube pad.

Yes, such a bizarre decision in retrospect. Most magazines were singing the games praises yet not a single ad on tv!

And for that they will always be in my good books. Satoshi Tajiri at least.

It was the advert it's self that was the crime - To advertise one of the best looking games at the time on national TV with showing someone sending an e-mail (and no game footage at all) was just ripping the piss . Should have expected anything less for that French Baboon on charge of SEGA Europe at the time .

How easy is it to take all the guts out a dreamcast and put it into another? I have...a screwdriver and a small amount a patience.

As long as they're identical you'll have no problem and just want to swap out a yellowing case, for example.

It's all large screws, nothing small, delicate or fiddly to worry about, even if you don't have much patience.

Not really related but I put the CD drive of a HK machine in my faulty JP one and it didn't line up exactly and the machine kept thinking I'd ejected the disc mid-game. I think if you're carrying all the guts across it shouldn't matter but try and get the same model in case there's some random thing they changed along the way. This is the company that made the Saturn, don't forget, and there were about fifty models of that bloody thing

Ah ok cool. I have bought a pure black sports Dreamcast to replace my yellow/white one lol. I was wanting to swap the contents of my American unit with the chipped Japanese unit internals.
