The place that exists outside the firewall protecting your network. You place things in it so the firewall doesn't get in the way........at your own risk!!!

Does DMZ in computing terms still stand for Demilitarized Zone?

I thought it was demilitarised zone (god I know nothing about the Internet other than press here, turn on box, work dammit and yay when it does) all that technical stuff be lost on me. I do have one question though if all the matchmaking is done via xbl if that goes down or gets borked Im guessing it would have the same problem as Sony, with my limited technical knowledge sounds more like xbl likes to lock its content down ala apple to get a higher chunk of the money pie (I'm assuming they get paid to host by the developers) and then charge both if that's right that's a nice little extra revenue stream whilst giving the perception it's for the players own good (but like I said I might be super wrong as I don't really know how either work, not that I care how it does either as long as it does)

The lack of Vita announcements was just staggering. I got one back at the JP launch and I've really enjoyed some of the games, but it's starting to feel like a Gizmondo or something. Nothing other than a shrunk down Black Ops and a shrunk down Assassin's Creed 3? Not even PS+ support?!

****'s sake sony. How do you ever hope to make this system a success? Literally the only decent original IP on it is Gravity Daze/Rush, and that's never going to shift any hardware in the West.

If XBL goes offline then correct, no online gaming for anyone. Also you potentially lose your saves if using cloud storage too. MS do indeed lock it down tightly to ensure nobody can hack the servers...and to make more money.

The exception to all that is EA titles on the 360 which all go through EA servers. EA refused to use microsofts platform so MS had to compromise, which means EA can spam you with terms and conditions, signin pages and of course make more money. I'm not sure how Ubisoft do it with their UPlay features, maybe similar to EA.

I think Ubisoft have the same option now to be honest, I was playing Ghost Recon and the ubisoft server went down, I couldn't play Co-OP as a result.
