I didn't hate Nomura early on but his designs are stale now and his characters all too predictable. Snow and Hope were among the worst characters in recent memory and Lightning just felt like Squall but without his amazing weapon, er in both senses I guess!

Well put, I agree completely. Only Nomura designs I like are in Final Fantasy VII and funnily enough, Nomura himself said that the lack of technology held his designs back so he had to make simpler characters. I imagine if the game would have had more realistic graphics I wouldn't like FFVII characters either...

Yasumi Matsuno should have been the future of Final Fantasy, his games are always high quality. There are rumours he was forced out by the bigwigs during the development of FFXII. Balthier was originally the lead and Van and Penelo were added in later simply to satisfy the 15 year old fans and recluses that play the franchise.
It's no coincidence that Balthier reminds everyone that he is the leading man.

I think Basch was supposed to be the main character originally, but otherwise correct. It shows that Vaan was shoehorned in the game, he hardly does anything in it besides hanging around in the background.

Actually I think you are correct there, it was Basch. However Matsuno was criticised because the main character was an adult male that apparently we can't connect with which is hugely short sighted. Luckily Vaan was a fairly likable character that didn't really interfere with the story too much. He also wasn't a whiny teen.

I think Vaan being a nobody kinda helped, he and penelo were just scar of all the happenings and it shows that not everyone comes from somewhere.

Does anyone know if the Japanese Square e-store charges right away? Was looking into pre-ordering the Lightning Ultimate box but I don't have the money right now...

Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII character designer Nobuhiro Goto confirmed with Famitsu that with Lightning's increase cup size, she will be able to "jiggle" when she wears certain types of costumes; such as the ones that exposes her l'Cie mark on the chest. Note that Japanese D cup is equivalent to C cup in North America.

Good news people, this is going to be a fantastic game!

But seriously though, what the **** happened to Final Fantasy? Different outfits and bigger tits? What is this, Barbie simulator? This is all pretty sad considering what the series used to be back in the 90's... It's s*** like this that has ruined what Japanese gaming was.

I hope they write it into the story that she got a boob job between parts 2 and 3.

Eh, it's pathetic that it's happening, but I also think people are potentially reading a little too much into it, after having seen articles claiming it's the "death of FF" and so on. The game's going to pander to basement-dwellers yes, but I still have faith that it could be quite entertaining for those who enjoyed the other two FFXIII titles, and well, XIV and XV both look great.

Would be funny if they tried to explain it in the game. To be honest, I stopped playing FF XIII because Lightning's small bust size was spoiling the experience for me. If she'd had bigger baps I'd probably have finished it.

To be fair Lightning has a fairly interesting character design. Just her attitude stinks and the character isn't enough to save a game alone.

Still, I would like to play XIII-2 and move on to this but I seriously doubt that will ever happen.
