It's completely different - has more in common with an RPG than your standard action based shooter. Although it borrows elements from the SNES/ MD versions, it's a lot more puzzle orientated (emphasis on problem-solving and collecting items etc). Not sure why they went down that route, maybe they thought that style of game would work better on a small screen.

      Surely that's too obvious!

Wait, did nobody say Metroid 2? Bloody terrific game. Better than the original Metroid, I'd say. For some reason it's an absolute steal too - rarely goes for more than a couple of quid on ebay.

Ah yes of course, good ol' Metroid 2! Also worth picking up R-Type DX as it contains R-Type and R-Type II on the same cart, and although it's a Gameboy Colour cartridge, it's backwards-compatible with the Gameboy (same applies to Tetris DX, Super Mario Bros Deluxe, Zelda DX etc).

Most of my GB games are the obvious ones to be honest. Other recommendations, most of which have already been mentioned:

            Kirby Pinball
            Revenge of the Gator
            Kirby Blockball
            Mario Picross
            Pokemon Pinball
            Mario 1 & 2
            Wario Land
            Zelda IV

              R-Type DX is the boss.

Mario Bros Deluxe is GBC-only though.

                            Better graphics, music, and gameplay.

KPL comfortably the better game. I'll have what you're smoking, though!

Has someone mentioned Alien 3 yet? It's like Zelda Link's Awakening albeit with guns and set in the alien universe. I think I like it more than Zelda, tbh. I finished Link's Awakening twice in my life. I've finished Alien 3 four times in my life. Which I guess makes Alien 3 twice as good as Link's Awakening.

****ing incredible game, especially given the hardware.

                              EDIT:
Just read the thread and seen Oldgamingfart has mentioned Alien 3. Well done that man!

Also, might as well pimp my own articles.

Catrap - a great puzzler with braid-like time travel mechanics.

Mercenary Force - hori shmup with interesting multi-character mechanics. Ace.

I recently been won over to the ROTG side of the great Gator/Kirby debate.
