Your top five best looking consoles

What do you think have been the best designed home consoles? Here are my top 5:

The PC Engine is perfect in every way. It's so small and humble. It's simple and unembellished - look how white it is!

I love how chunky the Saturn is. It feels incredibly robust. The curved top surface is very nice, no?

The original Master System has always been a favourite of mine, but I'm not sure why. Maybe it's the colour scheme, or all the different angles and vertices. Or mabye because it looks like the dashboard of a space ship from some 80s TV show. It was a close call between this and the Mark III (which looks like something from a 70's sci-fi show).

The PS2 slim is... probably the best redesign in history. I was actually shocked when I first saw it. Sure, it has a fairly crappy CD lid, but look at the thing! It's the size of a DVD case for Christ's sake!

Finally, the good old Gamecube. It's not actually a cube, but **** you! It honestly looks like a toy box - it even has a handle! I mean this in a good way, by the way. It looks exactly like the kind of thing that would contain Wind Waker. If all its games had looked like that, it would have been fitting, and I would have been very happy.

    Easy:

Always thought the PS2 Slim was Sony's most hideous design crime in gaming.

      1. Atari 2600

Perfect form factor for its time. TVs back then all had wood surrounds so it blended in nicely.

      2. Vectrex

Perfectly designed. No need to share the TV with anyone else.

      3. Gamecube
Just lovely, especially in pearl white

      4. Slim PS2

      5. No number 5.

Those are the only 4 consoles that I think actually look nice.

You didn't state that in your original post and I don't consider handhelds any different to consoles, they're both gaming platforms.

Pfft, what if I play my Game Boy at home? Anyway I'll update my post I guess.

There's too many great designs to include both in one list. My top 5 handhelds would probably be Pokemon Mini, Game Gear, Wonderswan Color, Game Boy Micro, and Game Boy...Color, let's say.

1: Super Famicom- absolute classic, cannot be beaten. I wish home consoles still looked like this. The design hasn't aged at all.
2: PC Engine Core Grafx II with Super CD-ROM2 add-on- looks like something right out of Blade Runner. Every time I look at mine I see a Voight-Kampff machine. Just beautiful in that dark grey.
3: PlayStation: the best-looking Sony console by a clear margin. PS2 looked hideous, and the PS3 is a joke by comparison. Understated, elegant and functional.
4: WonderMega (Mark 1)- lusted after one of these since I first saw one.
5: Saturn- undecided between the playful white Japanese model or the black PAL beast, but the latter feels like you've just bought your way into some kind of underground gaming club. I quite like the size of the system too, especially the height.

My favourite Saturn is the model 1 grey one.

                          SNES
                          Panasonic Q
                          Gamecube (Spice Orange in particular)
.... probably the Wii? I like how compact it is and the slot load with the blue lights.
Used to love my silver PS2 slim so I guess that can be number 5.

                            2: NEO-GEO AES
                            3: Sharp Famicom Twin
                            4: SEGA Wondermega
5: MK1 Japanese SEGA Mega Drive

Noone giving the Dreamcast the love it deserves? It's beautifully small, something that I like about the Wii as well, though just like any other Nintendo console comes with its huge power brick.
Super NES (PAL)/Super Famicom is an other excellent chassis, as it is the Neo Geo AES. GameCube and Q are equally good-looking,
