Still wondering if Gamestop will honour my super cheap preorder when I skip into their shop tomorrow morning brandishing my paid in full receipt.

My 360 copy turned up EDF EDF EDF

Are people under the impression here that any of the EDF games are actually good games? None of them are, not really. 5/10 is exactly what I would have scored the PS2 version Global Defence Force despite putting well over 20 hours into it. That doesn't mean it isn't bundles of fun mind but they are clunky, ugly, technically a mess, terrible audio and repetitive gameplay.
I still really enjoyed it but as a product to review in the mass market, I would tell readers exactly what it is.

Shouldn't games be scored based on enjoyment?

GTA games getting 10/10 and 9/10, but I didn't enjoy them at all.

Deadly Premonition is also a 'clunky, ugly, technically a mess', but I certainly wouldn't give it a 5/10

Deadly Premonition was utter rubbish. It was awful to play, a dull slog getting around and technically hideous. The only saying grace was the admittedly brilliant characters and plot but even the end was awful.

Fun factor is certainly an important factor but when reviewing a product you have to review it as a whole and take into account the many shortcomings of a game like EDF. I'm not trying to defend some of these reviews, certainly the Eurogamer trash review, however sometimes games can be very fun despite the fact they aren't very good. Tokyo Highway Battle is my game like this.

Edge gave it 5 and summed up the series nicely.

That's bollocks. The controls are decent and well balanced, the draw distances and depth of field effects excellent, and the repetitive gameplay accusation could be levelled at almost any game ever, except stuff like Nier and The Red Star. The gameplay is complicated and deep on later levels.

Wtf kind of gaming world do we live in when fun and enjoyment = not necessarily part of the considerations of what constitutes a good game? I'd take this over any number of vapid, soulless, committee-designed billy big budget bollocks critically-deigned 'good' games any day. I guess that means the raw production, ****ty singing and questionable musicianship of a sex pistols album means it can never score highly? I mean, what's being reviewed here? The game, or its individual technical parts irrespective of the overall experience? It's like you're saying that a game like this can never get higher than a 5 because it doesn't tick certain technical boxes. That's lame government- style bureaucracy thinking, man.

This is going to end in tears for me, I know it. It was too good to be true!

I want to be playing the game that is The Sex Pistols of the gaming world.

Nakamura should work for ofsted. When they inspect a school and observe teachers, if every single teacher gets a 'good' rating, they won't give the overall of 'good' unless they see some 'outstanding' lessons. So 25/25 lessons could be cast iron good, but unless there's some outstanding too, then good will not be awarded.

Nakamura's law of reviewing = A game, no matter how enjoyable, no matter how exhilarating, shall not be awarded 'good' unless arbitrary technical areas are ticked. Without this, you are simply enjoying a **** game.

There are four weapon packs free to download for the Xbox 360 version. One for each class, a couple of weapons each pack.

That wait to see if Gamestop are going to honour their cheap preorder is getting agonising...

Might have to pop out and grab a copy from a store tomorrow.
