Didn't think I'd get to play it, so it was nice to read.

Air Raider isn't much fun on solo play. He's definitely geared for a support role. Helicopters are great fun, but not as fun as being a Wing Diver. I did a couple of missions on my own as AR last night and was leading the ants like a Pied Piper to their explosive demise. Took ages with early wepaons like the Limpet Splendour! Another level was the first one where you take out the drop ships. You have to be pretty accurate with a limpet gun to take them out. Thankfully, I've kinda got a grap on the physics in this game now and know where to aim. Still took ages to chase them as they circled the map.

He's pretty handy in later levels where he can set up an impenetrable Electromagnetic Bunker whilst the king spiders try to destroy you.

I looked at the Trophy List and I think this is the first EDF game that doesn't give you a trophy for completing all levels on Easy? Might be wrong.
Either way I assume that either online or offline gives you the trophy and it doesn't matter which you go through.

2017 has an achievement for Easy, but 2025, 4.1 and Insect Armageddon don't.

So, as this seperates online/offline progress...is there any point playing offline?
Just make all my games online and even if nobody joins I'll still unlock stuff?
I'm not interested in grinding it all out twice.

Good point, for me it's offline only so the choice is yours. I certainly wouldn't want to do it all twice. As I said earlier I'll probably make myself available this Friday - though I need to get the PS4 updated as it hasn't seen a connection since Japan last August.

Yes Air Raider I believe links up with Fencer for some weapons, I can see the benefit of having him around online.
Like you I prefer WD, my stats show it. Much easier to clear most of the levels not only due to the mobility but because she has some stonking weaponry.

Maybe if you had no internet or never intended to go online with it, but I think the online aspect makes this for me.
I understand why Ampanman has gone that route, but if you're just starting out, then personally I'd stick with online.

As you say, you can play online in a private room on your own if you like, but having support is pretty good and I find most players are pretty helpful.

Plus, EDF isn't just a video game, it's a military training simulator, preparing us for WAR!
