Why not just play the original? Its available on tons of different consoles, including PS3, PSP or Vita. Wouldn't you rather Capcom focused on producing a good, new Resident Evil experience rather than re-hash an old game? I find the constant need for remakes of games that are easily available on various formats quite baffling.

It does seem odd that people seem to ask for this stuff, yet will simultaneously berate developers who make a sequel instead of a new IP.

While that's true, it's pretty much a case of if you go back and actually play games you have fond memories of, they aren't as good as you remember them being. Usually to do with graphics, but can also be to do with controls.

I think Resident Evil on Gamecube showed how to do a remake of a game right, and is probably the best remake a game has ever had. They changed up the sequence of events in places, added bosses, Crimson Heads (which genuinely added to the overall atmosphere/ tension of the game and also added a new mechanic in having to watch for the bodies/ burn them.(shudder)) locations and puzzles. Plus it looked freaking AMAZING at the time. It still looks pretty good now. If they could do a similar thing with Resident Evil 2...

My content manager doesn't recognise it either, 1 & 3 but not 2.

Wouldn't be too fussed by a remake. I find the old tank control Resi's have reached the point for me whereby their too awkward to go back and play whilst being fun. They could do a REmake style update but not sure it's worth it. A 3D remake... well, RE5 and 6 show Capcom doesn't think the RE2 style horror approach works for them. I think you'd just end up with a project that disappointed.

Though not as much as a FFVII remake likely would.

I don't think keeping the tank controls is really necessary. I love old Resident Evil, moreso than any of the newer ones, but the controls were always somewhat archaic.

My fear with changing the camera perspective is how that might impact the nature of the gameplay itself. If they could refine the controls and camera perspective while staying true to the original game, then I'd be all for it. But an action-focused take on the game would not be desirable.

Maybe have the movement like Fear Effect 2's? That game's kinda clunky in places too but the movement is fine.

I don't want Capcom to touch anything, they'll just mess it up. They haven't made a decent game since last gen imo.

                      Sad but true.

Agreed. They've failed to move with the times really. SFIV was pretty good as it goes I suppose. So good they had to make it two more times.

I really like the Lost Planet series.

Both games are very different yet still unique from any other games out there.

Dead Rising is one of the best five games of this generation for me. Other than that, I can't think of much of Capcom that's been great, though Resident Evil Revelations, Lost Planet and Dragons Dogma all look pretty decent (haven't played them).

                              Lost Planet was pretty good

Lost Planet 2 was great fun until the final chapter, then it went all generic. The game should have stuck to purely killing epic monsters. I do like it overall though.
