Cool stuff. I gave mine to my sister when I moved to Japan in 1998. Think I bought it early 1997. Anyway, she sold it in 2013 but still said it was working like new.

That's the reason I've never replaced it. Image is outstanding and although a 4:3 would be ideal, why get rid of something that works so well?

Indeed. Keep it until it dies.

Just a small update, but I got given a 10 series plasma 1080p which has a Freesat tuner in it, so I was able to ditch the Skybox that I only turned on once a month. So that gave me room on the hifi rack for the 360 and the Wii.

Retro corner update, though most of this stuff has been in the house for months now, just haven't been posting pics. And yes, you can see what you think you can see. And no, I don't want to talk about it.

Toshiba CRT's were (in their day) bloody superb. Sad news then to read this:

It's all thanks to Korean brands selling dirt cheap but the overall quality is **** compared to a top end Japanese set. No one believes me when I tell them how good my Japanese Toshiba is because all western Toshiba TVs are ass because they need to cut costs to compete with the likes of LG and Samsung. In Japan it's hard to see Samsung or LG screens and of course our TVs cost more than the UK but there's a reason for that. Quality.
