When you can get (legally) unlimited music streaming for a quid a month on all my devices you bet I buy some of the plus offers (if you were asking me anyways)

      Not you.

To each their own though, I've only used consoles this gen for fighters and the odd game I wanted to play.

Its a swings & roundabouts, every console has pro's and con's, Ninty just make the best first party exclusives, 360 has the best online and PS3 has the best free store and freedom, ie install your own huge HD and region free, that leaves Apple where they should be, outside looking in, wanting a games console with App & iTunes lock down hell like nothing you ever knew.

And yes EvilBoris the Apple Pippen that was a HUGE success, even worse than the VirtuaBoy. Please do that again Apple so you can bankrupt yourself.

The Virtual Boy was so bad that MisterBubbles doesn't even remember it's name properly! Pippin too. Maybe it was intentional.

You have to keep in mind it was indeed the Apple Bandai Pippin, not just Apple. And it was a long time ago. Apple is a huge brand and I think would sell on brand alone.

                    Fanboy much?

I don't see anything Sony did right this Gen personally, other than a few interesting titles (LBP 1 & 2) the PS3 exclusive list is pretty poor, and the PS3 has easily been the worst console this generation fro that point of view.

Add that to the embarrassment of the PSN hack. an Sony are in a pretty dire position in all fairness. The Vita is going downhill fast to the point where the PSP is actually more popular, so it all adds up really to not good news.

I don't want to see them disappear, as up until the PS3 they have done a good job in the gaming industry, but as with most companies that have been at the top of their game for a long time, they became complacent, arrogant and downright useless in recent years.

The PS4 might be their saving grace, however I suspect it only be a incremental upgrade rather than a true next gen machine, as I can't see how Sony can afford to do it at the moment.

                      Re: Sony = Junk

Each to their own. For me Sony owned this gen. Best hardware and best exclusives. Demon's souls, resistance 1 & 3, killzone, mgs4, lbp, folklore, heavy rain, uncharted 1&2, original motorstorm, the pixeljunk games and PlayStation plus, time crisis 4 & deadstorm pirates. Also it plays blu rays and has the best implemented motion controls. I totally see that maybe they just happen to have captured the range of games that appeal to me personally though and thay others won't see it that way.

I hate it when people throw the fanboy card out. I own all three current gen consoles. I think I'm entitled to weigh in on all three of them.

The Wii I gave away because I never played anything on it, and I hated the controller. Motion controls almost always suck. I want no part of them. Nintendo's region lock policy forced me to mod my system, after which I attached a harddrive and pirated everything. Except Xenoblade Chronicles, probably the only JRPG I liked this gen.

Let's put the Wii out of this equation, because you're obviously a 360 fanboy.

Here's some bullet points to help explain my POV:

                        * The PS3 is region free - my collection is 30/30/30/10% Japanese, USA, UK and Korean. This is how the world should be. This is how God, Yahweh, Buddha, and Zeus envisioned the world. Without region barriers.
                        * I was forced to import a Canadian 360 at double the price, just so I could play some American exclusives
                        * The 360 is design to be always online which creates numerous sub-problems:
                        - a rolling cache for patches, which is retarded
                        - the ability to accidentally delete ALL PATCHES by clearing the cache, which is utterkly ****ing retarded
                        - the flimsy build, from RROD to a dodgy HDD which keeps cutting out
                        * My 360 crashes on average once a week, but in 5 years I've never had a single malfunction with my PS3
                        * The PS3 had a symmetrical dual-analogue set-up, perfect for games like Virtual On and the FPS genre
                        * 360 has offset sticks which is retarded. I refuse to play an FPS with it. Symmetrical or GTFO.
                        * I seldom play online, but if I did, there is NO ****ING WAY I am paying even a single penny for it. Screw that.
                        * The 360's dash, in fact all of them, have sucked. The PS3 XMB has stayed the same since I bought it, and has always been easy to navigate.
                        * There is internal battery to maintain the time, because MS are too cheap to include one. Every time I switch my 360 off, the timer resets to 2005. My PS3 can go indefinitely and always remember the time. Seriously, how expensive is it to include a lithium battery on the motherboard?!
                        * Did I mention the PS3 is region free?

The 360 feels like a cheap, nasty, badly built piece of ****, with a wonky OS, utterly bull**** and illogical patch system, but which happens to have some excellent games. The only parity between the two is the system exclusives.

There are some great 360 exclusives which justified my purchase (such as Operation Darkness), but otherwise the hardware itself is dreadful.

I wonder if Samsung would ever step into the console market. Their tech is great in the phone and tablet market and I would root for them just because they have the balls to square up to Apple. They are the Rebellion to Apples Empire

Judging by various reports and looking at games releases in general the whole Japanese games industry and electronics in general are in trouble as they don't seem to have moved with the times enough. As far as I understand it PS4 will just be a PC in a box so should be rather cheap to make. As said region free is great and Sony are the only ones doing it. As others have said too The Playstation brand is one of the strongest things Sony has, so would benefit them to keep making consoles. The mistake they made with PS3 and perhaps Vita is the parts were too expensive thus not making profit to begin with. In this respect Sony should take a leaf out of Nintendo`s book and use cheaper parts. Seems they have been taking note though ala PS3 Super Slim.

Just to add was looking at the PS Store yesterday and I l know they may not have rights to all these games, but there are so many PSOne and PS2 titles not on there it is ridiculous. They could surely make mountains of money from those, if they released most of the back catalogue. The amount on there at the mo is pretty pathetic.

PS Move really could have been ace.
