In the end its called 'progress' something that Sony has clearly forgotten about when it comes to Pad design.

    Thanks ... I rest my case m'lud.
A long time ago I thought you were a joke account.

Then for a while I just thought we had differing views.

But now I again think you're someone else on this forum just posting for comedy value.

Do you actually believe what you say? Are you one of those same people who staunchly believe that there can be indefinite year-on-year capitalist growth? Everything has a logical end. As pointed out, you can't just keep adding **** to controllers in the belief this is progress. Surely we've reached a zenith? Actually, the PS3 pad is no different to the 360 pad, which is little different to Nintendo's own Pro Controller for the Wii (I recall it's missing the ability to click in L3 and R3). Two sticks, one d-pad, four shoulders, four face buttons, and a doohicky in the middle. There's a reason all three hardware manufacturers are sticking with this basic template: it works, and adding more to it is gilding the lilly. That's why they all started creating alternate forms of control (motion, sight based, et al).

Your basic control pad has reached an evolutionary plateau.

As J0e states, calling the PS3 outdated is idiocy, because it's the same as the other pads (the 360's non-symmetrical sticks notwithstanding).

For the record, I find the DS is much more comfy than the 360 pad. However the DS has crap build quality and triggers. Not having opposable thumbsticks was a bad idea.

Because Ridge Racer 1 is controlled only with the d-pad, and presumably Ridge Racer 7 is best controlled with the analogue sticks. The d-pad and the sticks cannot both be in the optimum place for your thumb at the same time. The fact that the d-pad is in the same place it was 25 years ago when the d-pad is largely irrelevant to modern gaming means that the Dual Shock controller is outdated.

That original PS3 pad looks really comfy. I wonder if there's a working one of those out in the wild?

Are any of you actually expecting to convince the other part with your arguments? Do you not realise that all your bickering is pointless? This discussion has been had a million times before, and never goes anywhere. Can't we get back to topic?

              Ok Alex.

              I think Sony are finished.

This is the topic. I'd be very surprised if Sony dropped out of the gaming business, if only because they would epically lose face, which is bad for a Japanese company. I'd be surprised, but very happy, because of all the reasons already mentioned in the thread.

                  FLAME WAR.

                  Bro, do you even lift?

Is Sony dropping out of the gaming industry even feasible? I thought their gaming division was propping the rest of the company up. I'd imagine that the first thing they'd get rid of would be the TV division.

6 button for me. No arcade game ever needed 8 buttons. The Astro City layout on my VSHG is perfection. No other stick comes closer.

The Steel Battalion controller should be the standard pad for all consoles.

                          I agree, only noob's don't prefer it.

Wii sports would be crazy sick.

Just add a nunchuck port and waggle capability and you're good to go.
