30 years! Don't make me laugh! My mother is 57 this year and has been gaming for nearly 40! She still has her first console - "Bingo" which played 4 different variations of Pong, all controlled with a twist controller. She's currently saving for a 3DS XL for when Animal Crossing comes out.

Well then get her on the forum ... She is just what we need!

Well I guess I have probably been guilty of that at some point in the last 30 years as well...

Saying that my Skyrim save is well over 120 hours, and I have put in well over 150 hours into the PC and 360 version of BF3. So if a game is worth it I am in for the long haul.

I am a firm believer in getting your monies worth, or course back in the day 15 minutes is about as much as you could get out of an arcade conversion anyway.

I don't think anyone who calls themselves a 'gamer' would just buy Nintendo, you are not a true gamer unless you at least dabble in a couple of consoles and have played them for the last 30 years, not in my book anyway.

I only started gaming in 1991 so I should just pack my bags and move to whatever forum needs mildly embittered 30-something year old cheerfully depressed optimists.

Oh wait, I'll just get to making my MiiVerse community and vet people who's gaming experiences began before 1985 and after 1995.

I'm phasing out buying PS3 games right now, unless it's something Monster Hunter or SRW. Or something cool. I'm expecting a ton of random Japanese WiiU exclusives at some point in the future.

I guess the original point was that in order base an opinion about something you need to have at least an amount of life experience in said subject.

You don't see 16 year old movie reviewers working for Empire Magazine for example, otherwise every Transformers film would have got 6 stars (as 16 year olds these days cant count).

And although some may exist, I can't say most young gamers these days sit there playnig retro games just so they can see what it used to be like.
