I guess the original point was that in order base an opinion about something you need to have at least an amount of life experience in said subject.

You don't see 16 year old movie reviewers working for Empire Magazine for example, otherwise every Transformers film would have got 6 stars (as 16 year olds these days cant count).

And although some may exist, I can't say most young gamers these days sit there playnig retro games just so they can see what it used to be like.

Although incidentally, Empire actually gave Revenge of the Fallen 3 out of 5 stars and bizzarely called it a good film, but then a few years later put it in a list of the 50 worst films ever made.

So even the writers that they do employ don't seem to be able to form a definite opinion on anything.

How long is the 3DS going to last exactly? Are you honestly telling me releasing Mario/Pokemon on iOS and Android wouldn't print money for them? At this point most smartphones are a royal ton more powerful then the 3DS and are certainly capable. I understand that the Wii did extremely well last generation, but if you think history will repeat itself with the WiiU I urge you to look at the last 2 months sales figures for the console and compare them to the Wii's... Also, it's simple numbers really release their games on more systems more people have access to them and can buy them - I didn't think that point was too hard to grasp.

LOL Mario on a smart phone would be total s***, because you know, smart phones don't have controls for video games. I hope Nintendo NEVER degenerates to the level that they start making phone rubbish. Also, people pay 50p for iPhone games, not ?30. Anyway, I'm pretty sure Nintendo knows better what's more profitable to them.

The controls are not that bad if the game has been built around touchscreen, most games that have shonky controls are ones that were not made properly, trying to use a digital style control scheme when all you have is a touchscreen just doesn't work too well.

The problem is the majority of apple gamers are cheapskates they bitch and moan if their 69p doesnt proivide a 500 hour gaming epic. Nintendo doesn't sell anything for cheap if they can help so a ?30 game on the app store just wouldn't sell.

I agree with this to some extent but hasn't Theatrythm had some success and people have bought most of the in app purchases for around the same amount?

Nintendo would have to be in absolutely dire straits to release games on iOS. In the short term they would sell, but in the long term they would completely devour their own core business and have to downsize significantly. It would be monumentally shortsighted and I very much doubt it will happen any time in the near future.

If i was 29 and didnt qualify, given the amount i've spent over the years on gaming, i'd be more than a little pissed at that strict rule.

I'm buying a 3DS in a few weeks because after months of pissing about on an iPhone I realize that - regardless of fancy screen - they are simply **** for playing games on. Apart from boardgames, which are better played as boardgames. And also apart from some stuff from Llamasoft and Cave. Everything else is a ****ton of uncontrollable misery and IAPs.
