I only do D/L nowadays. I care not for boxes, and the associated literature. Plus the menu screen looks awesome
    Kept you waiting, huh?

ZOMG more chibi robo, then the crushing harsh reality that it's a download only release meaning this will be the first chibi game I wont be buying. Why this wasn't fleshed out into a full proper physical release i'll never know. This probably wont make it outside Japan, hell they couldn't even be bothered to release the DS games over here.

        It never went away!

Yay for more chibi robo! I'm happy enough to DL it :-)

Found this out totally be accident but if you blow into the mic on the home screen whichever game is highlighted will spin around

I'm so simple that it kept me amused anyway.

I'm thinking of importing a Japanese 3DS LL, as I was planning to upgrade my PAL one to an XL over here but the price delivered from Play-asia (?148+?14 shipping) pretty much matches Amazon UK's current pricings (?160). If I were to do so, I'd be getting all my games off the eshop, and it seems the standard retail price is 4800 yen (~?32) which seems pretty reasonable. My questions are:

              1) Can anyone attest to to ease-of-use of the Japanese eshop, such as download times etc? Generally I've heard it's much nicer than the US or EU one. Apart from having a metric buttload more available, does the Japanese eshop do anything particularly different, e.g. sales?

              2) 3DS LL in white or black? I much prefer the single-colour units, and atm I'm heavily in favour of black based on what I've seen in photos.

The Japanese E-shop is pretty easy to use. Download times are a bit longer due to the distance your connecting to but you can still get the games easily. Paying for points can be done using a uk credit card with no problems.

As for extras well theres a lot of games that haven't come out in the other regions plus there are the 3D episodes of game center cx which are fun to watch. Not sure what else as I haven't been online with mine in a long time.

^^ He is right but I would check that pricing standard seems more like 5800? to me. I know SMT4 is in the 6000's
also you will pay more as you cannot use a uk card on your J account and points cards are not at the full exchange rate its more like 120-130? to the pound so the games are more like ?40-50 (?46.40 @ 5800 exchanged at 125? to the pound)

Yup the exchange rate been totally crap right now is going to mean that most purchases will be more expensive if you go with Japan. In general most new import releases are priced ?40-50

Its probably cheaper to import from nin-nin or buygame2 than points at the minute tbh (around ?35-40)

Ok, thanks for the responses. I was using a quick search on nintendo.co.jp's website to get that 4,800 standard price (a select few seem to be higher but generally that was the mark). However if you cannot use a UK debit card to buy points directly on the Japanese eshop that would make things a lot more inconvenient - can I just get you to confirm that is indeed the case? I thought I had read differently elsewhere.

Hmm not sure of debit cards as I have only ever tried my credit card in the past. If that would be problem the only other solution is to buy point/money cards.

I use my UK debit card with my Japanese 3DS with no issues.

The shop designs between US/JPN are the same - both a bit meh.
I have no issues using my Canadian card on my J-3DS.
Best thing is stuff comes out sooner for me due to the time difference
