The behind character view is fine for 3D but unplayable. Isometric, no so much. I have it turned around 1/4 the way up whereas on LBW it was on full most of the time.

Well, had a bit of a marathon sesh to get the to end of Fire Emblem last night; did the last 5 missions in one go, and some of it was certainly an ordeal:

The part where you have to escape from that fortress, full of enemy magic users with massive range attacks was just evil

Seeing it through to the end has changed my opinion of it somewhat. It's flawed, yes, but those last few battles were incredibly tense. I lost three characters in mission 21, which severely hampered my team; I had to use loads of items to boost their stats to get them through the last few scenarios.

In the final open battle, where the objective was to defeat the enemy leader, I lost two more characters as I pushed though the enemy forces, aiming to smash through their lines like a spear and push the main character into battle with the enemy leader. I failed it a couple of times (with Chrom dying), which meant I had to redo the mission, and the final time I lost those people because I realised, given the situation I was in with my characters, I had to choose to people someone in order to win. That experience, of having the other characters charge off, and making the decision to turn around with one of my knights (Stahl) and plough him into a bunch of enemies was actually quite emotional.

So, it's flawed, certainly, but it's also one of the most interesting turn-based strategy games I've played, and among the best games on the 3DS. Whilst I've had issues with it (which I've brought up on here), I never once felt like just putting it down (like with Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars); I really wanted to see it through, and I think struggling on with those problems, perhaps slightly masochistically, is one of the reasons for that.

Seriously what the hell is going on with the English language release of Dragon Quest VII 3DS. I thought it would be at E3 but iv heard nothing whatsoever about it.

And yet at launch, they didn't just do a 3DSXL in either plain white or plain black, so I have this awful plasticky children's-toy-gun-silver monstrosity.

              3DS is better anyway.

I'm pretty happy with my red one and TPU cover.

Silver JPN and Red NA for me. Love them both like very close girlfriends who've both independently thought about having a threesome with me.

That one will stay in Japan forever there's no chance of that coming over here. Shame it's sub based otherwise it looks pretty interesting.

I personally quite enjoyed DQ9 on the DS even though I know some people don't like the game. Shame the 3DS isn't getting a follow-up or more from the series (at least not online and available in the west). I also think 3DS would make a good platform for a DQ8 port.

It didn't grab me at all I had it in my pile and had been looking forward to it, but I was incredibly put off by the first half-hour. I normally give JRPGs a couple of hours but I really don't want to go back to it.

The DS family has a good "suspend" feature, but I still feel that RPGs on a handheld should always let you save anywhere, and not just at points.

1987 coin-op Thunder Blade is next in line to get the Sega 3D Classics treatment. Scheduled for 20th August JPN release.

Starting to get the feeling that this second wave of Sega 3D Classics titles (After Burner II, OutRun, Fantasy Zone/Fantasy Zone II and now this) might not get western releases. Hope I'm wrong about that, obviously...

Makes sense; it has that weird "flipped perspective" effect - like it was both a Space Harrier-type game and a top-down shooter.
