When I am about 8 years old kid

I played Defender, Space Invaders, Asteroids, Pac-man and Galaxian in arcade.

    Then I had a ZX81 Sinclair - Useless machine

Then I had a Vic-20 which was for Christmas. I probably have about 5 games on it like Space Invaders, Pacman Clone (Fish and shark), Wacky Waiters, Scrabble clone. Nothing special

Then I play games on Atari ST and BBC Micro B in boarding school mainly Football Manager, Test Drive and Chopper X

When I left School at 17 and I had an AMiga A500 enjoyed it for 3 years then replaced it with A1200 and love games like Sensible Soccer, Cannon Foddler, Chaos Engine, Banshee, Secret of Monkey Islands, Popolus II, and more

I had a PC Laptop which I only used for Doom II which is crap copmuter while I study at University.

I left University and upgrade to Playstation 1 so I can play games it was worn out in February 2001

Had bought a PIII 550 MHZ PC in 1999 and still use it today but not for games.

In February 2001 I bought Sega Dreamcast and play games like Crazy Taxi, Ready to Rumble 2, MSR, Jet Set Radio, Virtua Tennis 2 - Great fun.

Made redundant in 16th of May 2001

in August 2002 Bought a Spice Gamecube with my tax rebate (Which arrive 4 month late) and really loved it. (First Import console)

In October 2002 trade in DC towards PAL PS2 as I want PES2 and didn't like it too much apart from PES 2.

In January 2003 bought USA XBOX, Sold PS2 didn't regret it.

In July 2003 got a job now and frustrated with no winning eleven 7 on Gamecube

In August 2003 got on XBOX Live and broadband

In October 2003 got a chipped silver PS2 which is great decision and only buy import games. I bought Psyvarir which is first pal game I bought for a long time.

In November 2003 I bought a GBA SP which I enjoyed Mario games on it. I also bought a USA Nintendo 64 for classics games which I am waiting for it to arrive.

Future plans is to buy a chipped XBOX and replace my PC with a new Mac if I can afford it and upgrade my home cinema set up. I think I am caught up with passion and is slowly becoming a hard core gamer.

I love sport, driving, adventure, platform and shoot them up games.

            I'm 24.

1991: I got hold of a Sinclair Spectrum +1 (the one with plastic keys but no built-in tape deck) pretty late on. I swapped my mountain bike for it! It came with a huge bundle of games so I explored the ten year history of the Spectrum through that for a few months.

Then for Christmas I got a Master System II. I remember the joy of being able to play Sonic The Hedgehog at home rather than on test units in Boots was amazing.

1992: In summer I sold my MS and bought a Mega Drive. Highlights of that time included Sonic 2, Thunderforce 4 and Wonderboy in Monster World.

1993: Inclresingly envious of my friends' SNES/SFC games and sick of sticking up for the MD in our lunchtime gaming debates at school I sold my MD and bought a SNES. I remember the summer of 93 being a happy one, playing Mario Kart and Parodius and reading Super Play virtually non-stop.
In September I bought two copies of the first Edge (I still have one sealed somewhere).
At christmas I had a bizarre case of Amiga-love and got an A1200 (getting rid of my SNES at the same time ).

1994: I seem to remember my flirtation with the Amiga lasted about four months before I swapped it for another SNES! This was a good move as I remember a happy christmas that year playing Super Metroid, Stunt Race FX (under-rated classic) and Final Fantasy VI.

1995: Now 16, my interest in games was slightly overtaken by an interest in girls and music! However I still spent summer playing Super Street Fighter II and got a PlayStation for christmas. Playing Tekken on Christmas day is another happy gaming memory.

1996: Gaming really wasn't much of a priority this year, but I still had a bash on the PS when I could.

1997: Off to university this year and my interest in games was reignited by the release of Final Fantasy VII. Many a cold winter evening back at home at the weekends was spent chasing Sephiroth.

1998: Not a lot of gaming this year (except the Puzzle Bobble arcade machine at Leeds University Student Union).

1999: Started using the PS again, playing Grand Theft Auto and Final Fantasy VIII.

            2000/2001: Another two non-gaming years.

2002: My interest in gaming back to mid-teens levels! Getting a proper job meant I could buy a PlayStation 2.

2003: Started the year by buying a Gamecube and a Dreamcast and have spent most of the year playing shooters, RPGs and the games I missed during my 'wilderness years'

Phew, that took long enough to type!

Think thats about right. I was late to the party with some consoles, and have been back to get all the consoles I missed within the past few years.

                A not-so-brief history:

When I was about 6 or 7, my dad brought home a BBC Master 128 which was our first ever computer. My favourite game back then was Repton 3 - I was always a bit out of place at school obsessing over a series no-one else in my class had heard of, let alone played.

When I was 9, I chose a Master System over a NES for Xmas after playing Wonderboy at the arcade. 2 years later, my parents bought us an Amiga 500+.

Another 2 years later, after much deliberation, I went for the SNES over the Megadrive for Xmas. It was my favourite gaming machine yet and I played on it nearly all the time with games like Mario All-Stars, SF2 Turbo, Zelda LttP, ISS Deluxe and many others. I also got a US Gameboy at about this time - my first import!

ISS Deluxe was my last console game for some time. None of the new generation of consoles appealed to me at the time. They seemed to be all hype and no substance. Certainly, I didn't think any of the games were as good as the best the SNES had to offer and so I drifted away from gaming for a good few years.

In 1998 after my first term of uni, I decided to buy an N64 with ISS 98 and Goldeneye and three extra pads and learnt just how popular a 4-player games machine can make you at uni. Months later, I bought FF7 on PC on a whim (I certainly wasn't aware at the time how popular it actually was) and along with Zelda OoT, it brought me back into gaming in a big way.

A year later, my Gameboy was rejuvenated with Pokemon Red, my mate sold me his PlayStation and I spent a lot of money buying cheap second-hand PS games to find out what I'd missed over the last few years. I also discovered eBay and used it to pick up SNES games I'd missed first time around as well as a converter and a few SFC games.

I got a Dreamcast for my 21st (I don't think I could have had a better present) and with it already losing to the PS2, I was able to pick up lots of cheap games again.

And then in 2002, now that I actually had some sort of income, I bought my first new release import - Ikaruga with a DC-X from VGI. It was expensive, but what a game! After that I began to concentrate more on Japanese imports. Also picked up an NGPC and a GBA around this time.

At the beginning of this year I got a PAL PS2 from my mum and a JPN PS2 from someone on another forum (I didn't want a modchip at the time). Thanks to recommendations here, I picked up games like Psyvariar, WE6FE and VF4 Evo. Having saved up a bit of money, I also bought a Platinum GC with Zelda (PAL), but since most of the games I was buying for it were JPN, I bought a switched Spice GC a couple of months ago from here.

I remember! I was reading EDGE a few years ago when I heard of the SNES JR. I called up Another World so I could place an order. Was really excited, unfortunatly they didn't know when they were getting one and over the next week I forgot about wanting it. Damnation! Never gonna get it now. Very lucky tankplanker.

I forgot about PC gaming too. Was my college years when I got my first PC for IT. Playing Doom over the network was awesome. This led onto greater things, Bullfrogs software etc

i kinda evolved backwards i guess (in chronological order):
                          born 1980
                          some years later: atari 2600
