Odd, it had completely the opposite effect on me until recently. Mind you, that was only because of the lacklustre PAL release schedule. I imagine it gets better if you can play a game where a Mole tells you off for cutting the power.

Y'know what? Nintendo were utter bastards for including promo stuff in their SSB:M trophies. All those games, and they never came out over here. Even the Nintendo disc they sent me last year full of trailers, had several seconds worth of Animal Crossing.

    *Breaks down and cries.

Now for me, the Xbox reaffirms my belief in gaming, second fave console. I see it as the spiritual successor to the N64, which is my favourite all time console. Third place goes to the NES. Fourth is the GameGear, simply because it still manages to piss over the GBA SP. Adjustable contrast! Suck that!

Admittedly you needed to keep the thing on mains, but who plays portables outside? It rains where I live and it doesn't exactly fit in the pocket.

GameGear - the Xbox of portable consoles.

Fifth is the Vic 20 as it started it all. Sixth is PS2 for eyetoy and GTA:VC. Seventh is the GameBoy and it's various iterations (all of which have had flaws, otherwise they'd be much higher in my list - don't have an SP).

    Seventh is the PC.
Eight is GameCube. Only as Nintendo broke my heart. Should rise in my opinions once I play VJ and F-Zero.

I felt the same when I had a PAL GameCube as well, you should really look in to importing. It's cheaper these days too.

The first time I played a game it was on the Amstrad. I remember when a tape had two games on it you had to load up the first one, restart, then load up the second one. Argh lol. All I remember playing is some robin hood game and postman pat (lol, well, i was young). The latter was really buggy and sometimes I found myself just driving through walls into glitchy areas (at the time they looked like cool secret areas).

Then I moved onto the Amiga 500+ and the NES. Amiga 500+ was great. I happily recall my days playing SWOS and Cannon Fodder. Then I think after that I moved onto the SNES, PSX, N64, DC, PS2, GC, Xbox (in that order). Sega Saturn came in somewhere, but I only bought that for the resident evil battle game.

Of course there is a lot more to my gaming history but I don't wanna go on all night.

Always a bugbear that I can never remember the first game I ever played. Could have been some dodgy old coin-op. Considering I was only born in 84, the fact I owned a speccy, and everyone else had a C64 was amazing. Only two games really stick in the mind, Ghostbusters and a motorbike game (Super Trans-Am Pro Am I think).

Next was the NES. with the might of Mario 3 and Low G Man (drools). Afterwards came the GB and MD. I loved the MD. Sonic 3 and Knuckles, Vectorman, Dynamite Headdy, SOR2. The console that had the most effect on me, and the glory days of games (for me).

Then it all changed. Walked into an arcade on holiday one day, and I heard some music. Wander over to a stand up cabinet in a corner. Virtua Fighter. God I love that game. Helped the family got a PC I upgraded with a 3dfx. TIE Fighter, VF (yes, I have around three PC joypads) and more TIE Fighter (whisper it, best game ever). As well as all this, I got into emulated games. Chrono Trigger and FFIII especially.

Edit- Crap, forgot about a generation. N64 and DC. Home to the finest 3D games money can buy. OoT, Jet Force Gemini, Excitebike 64 (?5!), Soul Calibur, Bangai-0 (yes, it's 2D), Skies of Arcadia.

Then, before I went to Uni, I had to get a job. Of course, with my student loan and all this cash, I quickly got a monster PC, GC, PS2, and Xbox. Metroid Prime, Battlefield 1942, ICO, Halo, KOTOR. Still the good times roll...

Not sure of the dates but the chronology goes a little something like this (with fav games) :

            Friends Atari (Empire Strikes Back)
Friend of a friends Vectrex (Space War)
Megadrive (Toe Jam and Earl, Sonic and Golden Axe)
            Gamegear (Sonic)
            SNES (Super Mario Kart)
            N64 (Golden Eye, Zelda OOT)
            Gamecube (SW RS2)
            PS2 (REZ and Vice City)
Gamecube (Mario Sunshine and Metroid Prime)
            Gamecube (Zelda WW and Ikaruga)

I got into the wonderful world of the games console late and didn?t really have a home computer to play on. I don?t count the Tutang Einstein my parents bought as it was a tragedy with only Elite worthy of play. The day they told me they had bought a computer without consulting me was a very, very dark day indeed!

A lot of my early gaming experiences came from the Arcades on Southend seafront and watching friends play on their home computers.

I am on my third Gamecube now, due to North and South London crackheads and only have my trust SNES left for nostalgia.

                  1972 - Born

Vectrex - from Woolies around 1984 swapped for Vic20 (doh)
                  Vic-20 - around 84,85 - since sold
                  Commodore 64 around 84,85 - since sold
Atari ST - 1987 since sold
                  Amiga - 1988 - since sold
PC Engine - 1989 (first import machine) since sold
PC Engine - 1990 (RGB Scart instead of horrid plug in pal booster) since sold
Mega Drive(jap) - 1990 - last machine i got rid of (lessons learnt)
                  Super Famicom (jap) - 1991
Playstation (jap) 1994 - got this about 3 days after japanese release, paid through the nose for it. But my god, Ridge Racer.
                  Saturn (jap) 1995
N64 (jap) 1996 - again paid a ludicrous amount for it, just to have it about 3 days after jap release. Later paid ?150 for mario kart

                  PS2 (pal) 2001

XBox (pal) 2002 - just for Halo
PC Engine Duo - 2003 - the machine i should never have sold
                  PC Engine (white) - 2003 - ditto
PC Engine (core grafx) - 2003 - I only use the Duo out of the three, i have replaced every game i used to own bar 1(anybody got a spare Pacland)
AV Famicom - 2003 - I never owned an NES, so i thought this would be an interesting puchase. I only have 2 games for it, one of them is Gradius which i am collecting on any format as its my all time favourite game.
