If nintendo don't make re-makes like this and make a profit on them, then teams like EAD dont get the more or less infinite resources to make games like link to the past, ocarina of time, mario world, mario 64, ocarina, galaxy 1 & 2. Not to mention the amount of time it takes to make said titles, 5 years upwards most of them. Quality takes time and resources, so if ninty have to churn out a few re-makes to get there with the main teams, thats fine with me. Buying is still optional you know, if you don't like it, don't buy.

Sorry, where are all the remakes that funded Link to the Past?

Im sure there were a few re releases before that game was released from one or more of their franchises. Clever what you did there though, picking one game out, well done.

Lol thanks I'd have said the same for the rest (apart from Galaxies, obviously), but I don't want to hear that all the N64 hits were actually remakes. Technically they were, but that was at a time when there was a point to redoing the classics. We'd just discovered 3D. NSMB, HD rereleases, ANOTHER Mario Kart etc have no reason to exist whatsoever. They don't NEED this type of **** to fund their other projects, they just want the money. That might make them genius businessmen, but anyone who isn't a Nintendo shareholder should not be using that as a reason to heap praise on them. We, as gamers, should only be interested in their creative output, not their business accumen. On this account, Nintendo has been failing BIG TIME for the last decade.

I still think nintendo have great creativity , just look at Maio Galaxy 1 and 2, so creative beyond what any other company have created in my opionion.

Nintendo are still creative they just don't do the 'core' games very often which isn't a bad thing, it is however annoying that they have had plenty of time to come up with games for the WiiU and they still haven't really produced anything yet.

Also there are plenty of people that never played Wind Waker on the GC so this will be for them as well.

You can't make an argument about creativity these days, there is none, everything is a variation on something else.

Well I had a massive discussion about this on facebook the other day so I don't want to go over it again, but those people who never played Wind Waker need to buy a ****ing GameCube and stop giving Nintendo an excuse to be lazy. What would Nintendo be doing now if they knew nobody would buy HD rereleases of GC games? They'd be busy as ****, making something new.

Anybody saying 'GameCube graphics' and 'unplayable' is going to get shot in the head, btw.

They are a business and they make money from selling Wii Us, not from second-hand Gamecube and Wind Waker sales, silly. If you don't like the HD rereleases then guess what? You don't have to buy them! And we all know what you think about Skyward Sword so I don't think it's actually possible for Nintendo to please you. You should just give up on Nintendo, seriously noobs. You just hurt each other and what spark and love there once was is now long gone.

Btw. Okami HD is one of the best gaming experiences in recent times for me. It looks gorgeous.

                      Really??

That's going to be your argument against this? I had best go and find some VHS copies of StarWars then as there is no possible way I can watch the original versions on Bluray .... Sorry but that's not much of a reason.

That's not a very apt comparison.

Its perfectly apt, the simple fact is that some people will not have played this game, so given the choice of getting it on the WiiU for say ?25, or spending quite a bit more money getting a Gamecube and sourcing the game, what would be the preferred option?

Hell I still have a Gamecube and WW, but I will still be getting this update, as long as its reasonably priced.

I have seen people on the interweb saying that they still have a VHS player and VHS copies of Starwars simply because they can't get that version on Bluray ... There is a word for that .. sad ...

Can't they just play it on their Wii? Why would they need to buy a Gamecube?

It's not apt at all. Bluray and DVD offer many advantages over VHS (chapters instead of rewinding is advantage enough), while a visual upgrade is generally the ONLY reason to get HD rereleases. VHS visual and audio quality seriously deteriorates over time. Believe it or not, this is not true of GameCube games.

Although, yes, if people hadn't constantly paid money for the original Star Wars trilogy time and time again, Lucas probably would have got off his fat arse and made the prequels a lot sooner (whether that's good or bad, you can be the judge).

Exactly. And let's all strain our brains and try to think of a reason Nintendo might have removed GameCube compatability from new model Wiis and the Wii U. Hmm, nope, I'm stumped!
