You ever thought there might be technical reasons as well ... Yes we all saw this coming, I am sure there will be HD versions of Wii games well ... But at some point they have to remove BC from consoles its as simple as that. For proper GC compatibilty there would need to be chips inside, controller ports, memory card ports, its never as simple as just saying they have done it purpose to resell games.

So what if people don't have Wii's either, maybe we shouldn't get Resident Evil: Revelations on console either as people should just be playing the 3DS version??? No??

In the end Nintendo didn't have to do this, they could have just left the game on the GC, at least others will have the choice, whats wrong with that??

Try to use some logic. A portable to a home console port is IN NO WAY the same thing as a console to console port. The gameplay experience is fundamentally changed when it's no longer on a handheld, isn't it. I have no idea why you would want to go from handheld to console, rather than the other way, but whatever.

I don't think I'm alone when I say that Nintendo has changed for the worse over the past decade. I don't think I'm alone when I say that they've been allowed and rewarded for this change for the worse by idiots buying casual **** and pointless sequels (I just lose support when I include Skyward Sword and NSMB etc in those categories). Should I be happy about this change just because other people like it? Should I be happy that a very large part of my passion for games has been taken away? I'm not looking forward to the next Zelda. That is not a nice place to have arrived at. It's very easy to say 'live and let live' when your own enjoyment has not been compromised by the buying power of other people.

The comparison is fair as I suspect Resident Evil : Revelations will be pretty much the same game, just with better graphics. Yes there will be differences of course, enough to justify a purchase will be up to the individual.

The world has changed for the worse in the last decade .. Nothing to do with Nintendo, also the older you get the more jaded you get, that's just life ..

Are companies taking the piss with these HD updates? .. possibly .. Are most companies in the world out there now to make as much profit as they possibly can? definitely ...

What's the alternative, turning your back on gaming??

Sounds to me like you are venting all this on to one thing, where the reality of the situation is everyone is doing this now ... And its been going on for a long time.

Of course this is all from our perspective, someone who is a lot younger, who never got a chance to play the original will see this as worth getting.

You think its going to get any better? It won't, there is no originality left in games (or anything else for that matter) there is only so many times you can do the same thing.

In the end I have a choice to either not buy this and deny myself the pleasure of playing the game again in HD (with possibly a few new things) or don't bother and basically give up on gaming altogether. I am going with the former.

Well, I was basically an adult before this casual and PC crap ruined everything, and I also get as much of a kick out of 90s games that I play for the first time now as I did from games I played at the time. Nostalgia or growing into a jaded adult has nothing to do with it. NSMB is objectively a worse game than, say, SMW or SMB3.

I won't support the absolute **** that is being produced just because there is nothing else to support. That's playing into their hands. I'll wait to see if things change, and support the things that point in that direction.

I'm focussing on Nintendo because they used to be the best, and while they were pioneers in the arena of casual crapola for total imbeciles, they were also the last bastion of proper console gaming. Nintendo aren't repsonsible for the world turning to ****, but they are responsible for the Nintendo part of it turning to ****, and so is anybody who buys the half-baked sludge that they are pumping out.

            This.

I've honestly never, ever understood this default and lazy position of gamers blaming Nintendo for everything that is wrong with modern console gaming.

              Totally different .

Its a current game that was once exclusive to one platform, being brought to others . That's not something new or current to this generation at all, but happened in the glory days of gaming, by the likes of Capcom - Hello SF II

@nu-eclipse - I certainly haven't said that. This is a thread about Wind Waker HD, so I'm talking about Nintendo. If I actually gave a toss about Konami, for example, I'd probably be in the Zone of the Enders HD thread saying the same stuff about them.

Also, 'everybody else is doing it, so it's fine, don't complain' is probably the worst excuse for anything.

This thread is weird ive read some strange things on here but the random comparison have made me laugh so i will give it a try,

Zelda is like a Christmas dinner you build it up in your mind and get excited for it to come but when it arrives you realise it's just a fancy dinner and it seems too big and it feels like you will never finish it! but you dig in and about half way through you feel you can't go on and lesser men stop and say "I don't want to finish this Christmas dinner it is tasty but I've had it before many many times". but you plow on and find something new by exploring your plate a tasty roast potato to offset the mountain of dry turkey and Brussels sprouts.

Surely nuking France is the first thing we should be doing to start a new world order.

Although I'm not a supporter of Wind Waker on GameCube, I disagree with the aprrantly cynical attitude towards the remake, Nintendo & games in general.

Yes, the Nintendo of today is not the same company that was producing games back in the early 90's, but they are a great developer. With no irony, I class Super Mario 3D Land as the best Mario ever made. It's bursting at the seams with creativity, imagination, stunning playfulness with technology and a real love of of past games in the series. After the misguided step of Super Mario Sunshine, Nintendo have made the impossible possible, they made a better Mario game than 64 & World with Galaxy, polished the concept & ramped up the difficulty with Galaxy 2 and for their encore, revisited the linear world and flag post runs in 3D Land.

Nintendo don't crank them out like they used to but how can they? 2D was being perfected by the likes of SEGA, Konami, Treasure, iD and 3D was just around the corner. It was uncharted territory & that era may never be replicated. But even with my weary 28 year old eyes, I'm continued to be stunned by what this generation offers us & how Nintendo keep raising the bar.

Despite Nintendo pushing Mario to its limits over the past decade, I personally feel that Nintendo have not showed the same verve with Zelda over the same time frame. Majora was charming & surprisingly dark, Wind Waker was beautiful, Twilight Princess felt like it was a reaction to the unwelcome criticism by Zelda "fans" to the Cel Shading & Skyward Sword is the first main Zelda game I've never played. All those games share one common trait, they felt like they were walking in the shadow of Ocarina of Time & reusing all the same ideas that the original 3D masterpiece pioneered.

If the next Zelda can start completely afresh, much like it felt like the past few 3D Mario games have, then we might see how bright the Triforce can shine once again. And I'll be first in line!

@ Wools, you should give 4Swords a go as well if not played. 4 mates all gathered together with good intentions of going on a merry quest together, all descending into anarchy and bitter in fighting the second a single rupee appears, shear brilliance
