Nice to see you about here .
Not for me. I know Wil from all the N64 work. I didn't read SuperPlay because I was a young whippersnapper who read Total instead. But when they awarded Mario 64 100% I realised a change was in order and switched to N64. NGC just isn't the same as N64 because there are only about 2-3 recognisable people every month. I'm reading GamerTM at the mo and I find that that is pretty good but thats because I'm a retro gamer. Anyway, my point is new magazines aren't the same without ya' Wil. *ahem*

totally....it was cool when Kittsy, Jes Bickham and Tim Weaver came back...but now they've all left again
(well, except Kittsy...and Paul, who's just been there forever)

Enough of this Wil Overton ass-kissing.

            Bring out Dave Wise!

I wanna hear some of his stuff outside of games. Does he have a website with a resume/CV?

            Is he still at Rare?

                Sound.

Best Rare composer IMO. Kirkhope's JMJ/Vangelis influenced PD soundtrack has to be my fave though, even DKCII and SFA don't come close.

Rare Ltd. = Best VG music outside of Japan (not that that's hard like)

                ...and yes, I am ass-kissing.

Dave Wise.... is that the guy who did all the quality Rare music, from DKC and stuff?
                  If so, he's a dude

And if he's also responsible for the excellent CBFD music... then he's a DUDE!

Seriously, the CBFD music owns. I still have Heist and Pooland on CD somewhere.

this dead rabbit story sounds interesting. Was it from a fan, or someone you angered? Did you report them? Did you get it in a big sealed cardboard box?
Feel free to tell the whole story.

Anyway, I wasn't being serious. Hope you're not offended.

I admire Wil's work, too, for what it's worth. Which probably isn't much.

Will was (is) excellent.... Just as Super Play.

Love his Samus Aran artwork.... Or just about everything he did for that magazine.

Must admit though I?m a bit worried about poor ol' Joanna Dark..... (If that game is still coming)
Okay, we haven't seen any new artwork in ages but did Overtons style really suit our quiet, determined N64 agent...?

Anyway, hats off for Wil Overton!

I think CBFD belongs to Kirkhope (can't remember from the credits, only completed it once - depressing ending ) - although the Rave scene does sound very 'Wisey'.

Some of those may be wrong. For instance, I'm sure ar' kid Dave worked on the Killer Instinct score. Also one of the best VG soundtracks ever. Not IMO, but pure FACT.

The music from Perfect Dark though, My choice for the soundtrack of 2000 - even beats 'real life' music such as 'Joe Satriani - Live at the Fillmore'.

                            Woo. Cheers for that.

Looking down that list, I reckon D. Wise is still the king... I didn't rate the PD music that high. Although hats off to the Kirkhope man for the brilliant Goldeneye tunes, which IMO are still better than any of the 'real' music from the Bond films.

Man, the PD soundtrack is really deep. Especially when ****ting yourself 30mins in on some of the later PA missions when you have next to no ammo and minimal health left.

The Goldeneye soundtrack however is also fantastic. My fave tune being the Surface theme - who doesn't have fond memories of messing around with the sniper rifle for the first time, with the fully 3D satellite dish in the distance along with the chilling music playing in the background? Playing that level made my hands cold even.

The Aztec theme is also a great tune, not listened to by many.
