If I were nintendo now, I'd just can the wii-u. 've been playing games for 28 years and bought practically every console ever released with the with the exception of the 3DO and CD-I. This is the only nintendo console that I simply have no interest in owning. There isn't even one single game that really interests me which is tragic. Even the new pikmin game looks like it might be a step back from pikmin 2.

I don't really know what they could possibly do to make the wii-u desirable. the console is vastly underpowered, the tablet thing is basically a pretty crap idea, the games are underwhelming and worst of all, lack that innovative nintendo allure that they used to have. mario galaxy was a system seller for me but super 3d world and these endless new super mario brothers are steps in the wrong direction I reckon. Nontendo at their most pedestrian.

Nintendo seem to have realised this too and instead they are focusing all their resources on 3DS games which, as a 3DS owner, is pretty good news for me as I'm quite smitten with the console and applaud the fantastic stream of great software that continues to come come out. Nintendo need to abandon the wii-u as a virtual boy moment and focus on producing a really great premium console. **** the budget price tag and just make something desirable and cool that people want. The snes wasn't a cheap console and neither was the N64 but everyone loved those machines.

the problem with them dropping this is its not a novelty console like the Virtual Boy was and you could always argue that that was part of the gameboy range and never intended to be a full home console, the wii u has its faults but there not as bad as your making them out to be and having never owned one i wouldn't say your in a position to judge, zombiu shows what can be done with the pad when used properly and that was a launch game, and for me being able to play assains creed 3 on my pad while the kids watch nicktoons is a great idea

I think like the 3ds things will pick up once Zelda, smash brothers, Mario 3d world, and Mariokart and Donkey kong, Arive just like they did on the 3ds, not to forget its still getting stuff like bayonetta, arkham origins, watch dogs, call of duty ghosts a new yoshi game and tons of other stuff to boot.

You are totally correct. My opinion is pretty damning for someone who doesn't even own one. My point was that if someone who is always first in line to buy anything nintendo doesn't find it appealing then theres something wrong and i don't think its me.
your list of great upcoming games is hardly thrilling to be honest. if bayonetta is a bigger and better sequal than the original then colour me interested but there has only ever been 1 bayoneeta game so to assume they will replicate the magic of the original game is blind optimism in my opinion.
arkham origins, cod ghosts and watch dogs will all be inferior versions of the proper next gen version of those games so they were pointless additions. new yoshi game? maybe... no new yoshi game since yoshi's island has been anywhere near decent so best not hold out too much hope for that.

Can't see the Wii branding survivng into the next console, it was one of the mistakes this time out. I get why they did it but even then the U ruined it.

even the new version of windwaker is lame. I think the graphics look weaker compared to the original. like they've combined the cool, cartoon look with some weird specular lighting ****. Also, no new dungeons or story. just another missed opportunity. I read somewhere that the original windwaker was supposed to have 2 extra dungeons that never made it to the final game due to time limitations.

Can't remember wherr but not long ago there was an interview where they said the missing dungeons had been used in later Zeldas so techinically we've had them lol. I've no issues with Wind Waker HD, it is what it says on the tin just like every other HD update. The visuals are somewhat subjective but to me they're fine and easy to tell the difference between the GC and WiiU editions. The only real issue is the price. However, if Pikmin 3 is anything to go by I'm sure that by release it'll be available a lot cheaper than its current listings have it as and if not I'm fine waiting for second hand as it's a busy time of year. Given the state of WiiUs release schedule I'd rather have it available than not. MK8 is the one to watch though.

If they can get the price low enough (which clearly they can since it's selling for 150 quid atm) with a packed-in Mario 3D World or MK8, I think it could start selling. A Pok?mon title would also be a big draw, they should've gotten at least a Colosseum game ready for this Xmas for X and Y. I mean how long can it even take to develop one of those?

there is a call for HD remakes, ico/shadow of the collosus on ps3 has done well and it also helps lower the price of items on ebay which while being crap for collectors is great for gamers

They should gave put a HD version of AC:NL up at the same time as the 3DS game with cross-saving like MH3U. It'd have sold millions.

I really can't see them scrapping Wii U any time soon, I mean just where would they go? For one thing you can't just come out with a new console, it takes millions of $$$ and takes years to get through R&d and even if they did ditch it the confidence in Nintendo would be shattered. I just feel they have done a Dreamcast by releasing it way to early with no big games to try to get sales before Xbone and PS4, the big difference to Dreamcast is Wii U is so lacking in power and the price was just crazy for what it was.

I love Nintendo but they have been be very foolish, you think they would have learned from 3DS what having lack a games does luckily they got away with it because there is little competition in that market.

pardon me for butting in here but the wii-u lacks power compared to the ps4 and xbox one (obviously) and the dreamcast came out with which amazing games exactly? sonic adventure and... pen pen triicelon? to be fair to the dreamcast, it wasn't too long before soul calibur came out which was the best looking game in the history of the universe at that point. I still can't understand why the dreamcast failed...

Well my point is that Nintendo have done what Sega done with Dreamcast, rushing out a product to beat the others to get a new system out to market and like Dreamcast it has virtually no third party support what so ever. And in terms of power its probably no better than PS3/Xbox 360 and even if it technically is, apart from Nintendo no one else is going to spend any decent quality time to get the most out of it because they will not sell in worthwhile numbers.

Don't think anything new will be revealed, however there must be a reason they're doing one at just 24 hours notice..

I really enjoy my Wii U for what it's worth, yeah sure it needs more top notch games and Nintendo have taken good console sales for granted and been bitten on the ass, just need to ride out the next nine months or so and people will be snapping them up.

As for underpowered, specs are far from everything, heck I even spent an hour playing ZX Spectrum games on my Galaxy Note on the train last night and had a whale of a time.

Do just sit back and chuckle at most of the posts in this thread.
