I didn't realise we were supposed to include iPhones and iPads. You should have made yourself clearer in the first place. I was under the impression that we were talking about two home consoles, namely the N64 and the Wii U.

iPhone is faster to type than smartphone, plus it is a generalisation the same as saying Hoover or Walkman is. No, it's innovative technology as far as home consoles go, simply because it has never been done before. Of course you could count the Otomedius Gorgeous HORI joystick, but I'm not that fastidious personally. Now you can be as pedantic as you like, but you've just skirted around everything I've said and mentioned other devices that are not relevant to the conversation, which was why the Wii U is not better than the N64. The very thing that you've still not actually spoken about this whole time. If you cast your mind back, I mentioned that I already prefer Wii U to N64 mainly due to Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate. To which you mentioned sales figures and spiralled into Wii U rage from there. From what I remember the N64 had equally lengthy waits between releases. I still fail to see what you're actual argument is outside of just hating the Wii U because it hasn't got a game or games that you believe it should have at this point.Last edited by J0e Musashi; 24-09-2013, 23:16.Kept you waiting, huh?

The only benefit a capacitive screen gives over resistive is multi-touch, not something that I imagine would be terribly comfortable trying to do on a game controller.
For me one big benefit is the combination of gyroscopic controls + physical buttons. The ability in the Zelda game on Nintendoland to carry out incredibly precise aiming through a mixture of analog stick movement, for wide turns, and gamepad orientation, for the more precise movements, was pretty compelling.

The N64 and Wii U are equally great right now. There is actually a more consistent line-up appearing for the WiiU compared to the N64 as it stands. One quality game a month is too much for me, and I'll likely skip Wind Waker as TW101 is proving too big an animal to tackle. At this rate I'm hoping Bayonetta is postponed until next Christmas.
And Super Mario 3D World is an entirely new game, not just SML3D with multiplayer tacked on.Last edited by dataDave; 25-09-2013, 01:27.

The console just doesn't have enough general interest it seems, the control systems while possibly great at times are dumbfounding, It still has no account system which isn't lazyness/inexperience/whatever so much as absolute greed from ninty, making me not want to buy anything digital for their system...and obviously it doesn't offer up anything that you cant get visually on ps3 or xbox 360 which are now ridiculously cheap by comparison, and both rich with content.
I feel that the 3ds was in a better position to pick up after its price drop too, what with the ambassador program, and the general handheld market being in their palm anyway.
I play on my WiiU probably once a month when something new comes out(generally on the ridiculously unnecessarily dry VC service), pikmin 3 is nice, but i couldnt bring myself to put much into it, W101 was a dissapointment to me, and WW HD while worth getting is just a GCN game.
Tropical Freeze is my most anticipated game.

The problem with the gamepad is it's dual purpose. Showing it being used as an alternative display when the TV in use means that any game that wants to support that feature can't then use it for any meaningful gameplay.
I loved N64 but I only played about 4 or 5 games on it. Luckily they were all awesome. Apart from killer instinct which I was forced into playing as my friends liked it.
I've not got a Wii-U but there are a few games out / coming out that I'd definitely play on it. Zombiu zelda w101 bayonetta and pikmin. Not enough for me to buy at more than ?150 at the moment but eventually I'll get one. It has the same problem as the vita, but vita now has plenty of games that I actually play.

I dont think nintendo will get away with being a generation behind based solely on gimmickry anymore...people are wise to the fact they bought a Wii and never used it too.

The Wii U is already a better console than the N64 ever was., shocking, especially that last comment joe. The wiiU is not even in the same galaxy as the n64. In fact its not even in the same league as the wii or gamecube, and never will be. You can argue monster hunter as i know you have been enjoying that immensely, however thats been on plenty of consoles for a number of years, in fact i was enjoying that on the ps2.
Also, every time i look in this thread people are getting super excited about vc games, that have already been released on the wii. Have nintendo drugged some of you? i just dont get it, im all for great games and supporting companies but not like that.
I just think a lot of you have got your rose tinted nintendo branded future specs on as far as what support this console will receive.

As far as the VC goes, I was excited for Super Metroid at 30p. That's about it really. I hadn't played it in years, and saw little point in re-purchasing a Super Famicom just to play a single title. Secret of Mana has been available in Japan for some months now, so if that comes out I'll also jump on it. I'd insta-buy Area 88 too, but that'll never happen.Last edited by J0e Musashi; 25-09-2013, 07:37.Kept you waiting, huh?
