Get out J0e. I'm heartbroken. I can't even believe you said that. <sniff>

You guy know I love Nintendo but I have no intention of getting a Wii U. The games are just not good enough to warrant it.
When you go back to the N64, the output of Nintendo was astonishing and diverse.

I'm only a Platinum Games fanboy, with very good reason to be... In that they make the very best games out there.

The only Nintendo game I'm really looking forward to (now Pikmin 3 is out of the way) is DKC, and that's developed by Retro Studios, besides that I'm only super excited about Bayo 2. Despite that, I'm still needlessly buying a single 'quality' game a month.

I highly doubt I will have completed The Wonderful 101 (properly) by the time DKC arrives. This isn't because I'm slacking off playing just four hours a week, I'm actively hammering it to f**k. I've not even completed it on EASY yet, and yet by this time playing 'Rising (20 hrs) I'd already S-Ranked it all on Revengeance Mode.

How many games do you lot actually play?

Last Of Us is the only console game I have played this year I think, oh and a bit of Zombie U when it came out when a mate came round with his Wii U.
For me I have always had two consoles sat under the TV, for me I have to have Nintendo as they are the games I enjoy most.

I quite like having a console with a few games trickling through, it makes me play the ones I buy more. Same with the N64, I picked up a Jap unit on day of release with Mario and Pilotwings, and I played them both to death for the first 2 or 3 months, then Waverace and Mario Kart and we hammered that, and then Star wars (bad example, but at least I played it) then it was Goeman and Starfox, followed by 1080?, Yoshi's Story and F Zero.

Those titles above came out over two years from the N64 release, and some others that were not great were bought as well, but in the same period we had a few coming on playstation as well and on the saturn, which were also really dry at the time. You have to own more than one console when it is in its first year or two, games are spartan, or there are lots but none that grab you.

Comparing the Wii U in year one with the PS3 in year 7 is a bit unfair.
I'm trying to think what I had on the PS3 in year one, RR and Resistance I think?
I honestly don't know what else I bought in year one, maybe Virtua Tennis?

So far for the WiiU I have NintendoLand (pack-in), Mario, Pikmin 3 and TW101.

I've not really completed any of them properly, so yeah - I'm already 'backlogged' (the reason why I'll possibly skip WW). I play between 25-40 hours a week.

I'm also playing FFXI on the side.

I'm not a fanboy by any stretch of the imagination, I just find the almost continued Wii U bashing tiresome. It does me fine as I like MH3U, and I want to re-play Wind Waker. It'll never be as good as PS2, nothing will, but I see no reason to bury it because it doesn't have 3000 games already.
I still have all my mint shindou versions

As far as as n64 and wiiU are concerned, no contest. The n64 revolutionised an entire industry on release day, the wiiU has simply floundered with no clear direction from nintendo on its long term release schedule, yes it has some good games, which keeps the likes of us, well you guys in this consoles case, interested and playing though games.

My original point being with the wiiU is that its been released at a very bad time for ninty, 3rd parties are looking towards the next sony and ms consoles for their future, which leaves a massive gap for ninty to fill on their own, which they are neither capable or willing to to.

For me the wiiU has games on it which would be nice to play (pikmin 3 & w101 come to mind), but not to buy a console for, there in lies the problem for nintendo.

Now is about the time i reckon nintendo wishes they a put just a liiiiiiittle bit more under the hood of WiiU...

Saying that wonderful 101 looks fantastic and DCK too.

Even so, doing really bad business in the crucial time period leading up to the true next gen, surely makes the console a flop in the grand scheme of things. Even if sales pick up it will never be really big, especially with the ps4 ?300 price point rumors etc....along with really poor 3rd party sales having basically further extended WiiU's misery.

Hey maybe the fanboy squad will be absolutely correct in the end, i hope they are actually......but i dont see it lol.

Apologies if this has been answered hundreds of times already (I swear I have searched) - but can I buy an American Wii U and still access the...um...whatever you call the Wii U's marketplace? The VC etc? I know with my American Wii I was able to buy stuff just by telling it that I lived in Brazil; does that still work?

Didn't work for me when I tried about a year ago.

I have a US WiiU in Singapore and I don't have any problems accessing the eShop.

Well, I should clearify I can access the US store, but not use my own (Norwegian) VISA-card. I guess I will have to buy US Nintendo-points or what they're called.

I have a Japanese Wii U and use it just fine in the UK, even using my UK credit card to buy stuff.
Same goes for Japanese 3DS LL too.
