Wii U - thread 3

dataDave nailed it in my view.

The N64 had some *great* games.
Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Mario 64, Starfox 64. (My list not his, obviously.)

Some games that others say are great but I don't like:
Goldeneye (multiplayer is glorious though)
Perfect Dark
Mario Kart 64

However, I do agree with J0e. The lineup on Wii U so far is stellar.

These are the games I own and am playing:
Dragon Quest X
The Wonderful 101
Pikmin 3
Lego City Undercover
New Super Luigi U
Nintendoland (multiplayer ftw)

Games that are coming that I can't wait for:
The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD
Dragon Quest X 2.0
Super Mario 3D World
Mario Kart 8
Bayonetta 2
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze

Plus, add that Wii U has Virtual Console (the library is getting there!) - given that I don't yet own a Super Famicom, I can now enjoy (on the gamepad) games like Super Mario Kart (the best one!), Final Fantasy VI, Super Metroid, Super Mario World etc. in very nice video output which would be quite pricey for me otherwise.

I find myself booting up Donkey Kong on the Famicom sometimes just for the hell of it. This system is ace.

On top of all this, I still have a bunch of Wii games to go through - now looking better than ever:
Super Mario Galaxy
Tatsunoko vs. Capcom
Metroid: Other M
Kirby's Epic Yarn
Kirby's Return to Dreamland
(I could go on but this is already a long post.)

Currently, I'm really enjoying Zelda: Skyward Sword on my Wii U. Love it.

And as dataDave said, one game a month is actually becoming too much for me - I can't keep up either - so much so, I'm wondering if I can justify the cost of a PS4.

Yeah the Wii U's got some alright games, but the fact that in a list of 5 Lego City Undercover and Nintendoland are included is pretty sad. They're not BAD, but like...meh.

I eagerly await more titles so I can have a reason to buy one. An HD tart up of a GC game with washed out gfx and a 3DS sequel are not encouraging me atm.

Have you even played Lego City Undercover? I'm not a Lego fan.. but it's ace!
(Disclaimer: I now work there - I started after the release of Lego City and it was quite a factor in me moving there)

At this point I'd like to point out that no-one said that Wii U is the best console of all time - the discussion was "Is it better than N64?" - I'll say yes because a) the library of N64 really isn't that great and b) it's video output is so bad it makes my eyeballs want to bleed down my face, so I'd happily pay money for N64 Virtual Console games of the few great games that I'd want to play and have look good.

If you're talking about Wind Waker, you don't know what you're talking about. I've seen it live and it looks absolutely gorgeous. In fact, it's probably one of the best looking games ever made. That comparison video was totally wrongly shot, they probably had colours turned down on the TV or something.

Traditionally I have only purchased Nintendo consoles for 4-5 exclusive Gems. I will do the same with Wii U no doubt. I don't need a tonne of third party games in order to justify a purchase. I imagine in about 6 months after PS4/Xbone are out the price will drop even further and it will be perfect to snatch a unit. I am most looking forward to Mario Galaxy 3, but i'm not sure when it is released. Zelda Windwalker HD too.

I'm ****ing badass that's why.

I'm not a fanboy by any stretch of the imagination, I just find the almost continued Wii U bashing tiresome. It does me fine as I like MH3U, and I want to re-play Wind Waker. It'll never be as good as PS2, nothing will, but I see no reason to bury it because it doesn't have 3000 games already.

Reminds me of the Vita last year when everyone was like 'it's gonna play PS1 games!!'. I mean srsly guys lol.

my 2p wiiu its alright aint it, not turned it on in a coupe of weeks, its a good side console like a wii you get it out to play a bit of sunshine every now and again, then its back to blue and orange daka, daka, daka, shooty stuff

I'll openly say that I love my Wii U - it's currently my most used console - but I totally get why it's not for everyone - especially if you like the triple-A FPS games etc.

Since getting my Wii U I've had a complete rethink of what I'm playing and why - and realised that I didn't really find FPSs fun anymore - but I look around the office and see a bunch of guys having fun playing those kind of games all the time. Fun is a personal thing.

(Equally, Dragon Quest X is really not for everyone.)
