The bad mojo on this has been circling for a while though and I'm struggling to see the light with it. Some sites are reporting E3 will announce nee game from Rare based on an old IP but I'm past caring, everythings a little tainted as I know we'll be forcefed DLC, Skype intergration and Kinect features.

But I also know what I'm like. I expect the system to me will be like the 360 over the last couple of years. Picking up three or four exclusives over the year but little else as the PS covers my bases much better.

I'm sure Forza 5 will be the key launch title too, but the series has been heavily farmed the last few years and I technically also have the option of Drive Club on PS4 which potentially is a bit different or GT6 which at least doesn't require several hundreds of pounds outlay.

In short, being realistic, I'll preorder one. But I'm not really anticipating it and I'm under no illusions that it will likely be a personal distant third of the three consoles... potentially for everyone too.
I really don't understand why you'd pre-order (paying top dollar for the privilege) something that you are evidently not that enthused about. It's a mass-produced consumer good, not a Picasso painting. Is it really worth trying to force yourself to be into it?

      No ****!

I would of actually called an ambulance if you had preordered an Xbox One, not because of it's poor showing, but because it's you.

Not so much forcing myself as justknowing me being me I'll see a couple of games I want to play down the line and likely be unable to afford the cost of picking the system up over other money priorities down the line. Getting one at launch essentially puts the system inthe bank as it were. Christ knows what game I'd get, hopefully the launch lineup features more exclusives of interest than Forza 5 as I'm not sure that'd be worth a day 1 purchase

Nay , I can't be arsed with another racing game.

There is a large glimmer of hope for the games side of things though

15 exclusive games in the first 12 months, 8 of which are new IPs.
That leaves 7 existing IPs in the first 12 months, which in itself is exciting. Which ones?

The only downside is, could some of them potentially be less impactful XBLA titles?

Mellowed a bit since Yesterday. I still won't get one but that's because I barely played the 360. Xbox doesn't have the games I like. Or it didn't last time anyway.

I am very biased against Microsoft. I think it's because they don't hide their corporate it's all about the money attitude. I realise everyone else is no doubt the same but I think they manage to hide the fact better. So on blissful ignorance I'll probably get a ps4. Based on the enjoyment I got from ps3 and the fact that it's the most powerful bit mostly because I'm hoping for some surprising interesting games on the system. Xbone on the face of it seems like it's been designed to be an ea revenue stream. Would like to try the new kinect though!

Nah I'll just try it round a friend's. I won't want to ever actually use it for real but I need to have a go on it!

If I open my optimism mind portions I'm hoping Rare's game is Day 1 and it's a new Banjo or something similar (seeing as the last gamd wasn't a horrendous bomb and was decent). I pray to god it doesn't turn out to be Killer Instinct which feels the likeliest candidate. I have nostalgia for the series like the next man but it was a product of its era and fighters aren't the sales force they once were bar SF4's popular run.

So at the moment out of 61 gamers, 2 are going to be buying XBO, and 4 might buy it. Not a very good presentation there, Microsoft.

I am pretty surprised at how high people's expectations were for a hardware unveiling event. Whilst I've enjoyed some of Microsoft's first party software output in the past, it's never been the reason I own a 360, and I'm neither surprised or bothered that the only news on that front was to hang tight. Sony wheeling out Capcom, Square-Enix etc for the PS4 unveiling was more personally appropriate yes, but I also get why Microsoft instead opted for EA and the Call of Duty guys. Win over a big enough install base - which is exactly what I believe exclusive NFL, FIFA, CoD etc content will do - then I'm sure the developers closer to my own heart will want to be involved too.

My biggest concerns are around the the hurdles they're seemingly putting up for smaller-scale and indie games, and all of the lack of clarity around 'used games' scenarios. The idea of a disc-based game not just being locked to one console but to one profile is a proper kick in the balls, and I hope that this is just a result of people going out on the front-lines answering questions without being clear on the technicalities. I am fully expecting Sony to be equally **** on this front. On the plus side, I am hoping that by being draconian about second hand games, that region locking shouldn't be necessary - maybe too optimsistic though? 500gb seems fairly short-sighted given every game's supposedly going to install a Blu-Ray's worth of data, too.

I know I'll end up with one eventually, so will probably just do it at launch and enjoy having a new bit of kit to play with. I'll likely do the same with the PS4.

I find it odd that they are going so big on the TV aspect...not even my mum watches TV live anymore, its all either sky+ or catch up TV...and the Sky box works perfectly without plugging it into another box.

Myself...I want nothing to do with Kinect so won't be buying one. So it is looking like a PS4 for me.

If it's anything other than a Kinect One game with Avatar Ones I for one will be very surprised.

Agreed. Rare have made little of note for a decade now.
