True, but you can always delete PS+ stuff and redownload it easily, no point having it sitting on your hard drive for months without being touched - for example.

No Chimp you can't. You can fit any standard 2.5" SATA drive in a PS3 (and PS4) though. You don't need a proprietary one like on Xbox.

Vaguely related PSN question - did messages get wiped at some point? Or did the message system change and I'm looking in the wrong place? I don't use the PSN message thing much at all but did have some messages from people in there and went to check recently on my Vita and I can't seem to find any. Checked the PSN app too and it says I have no messages. Any idea where I should be looking for my old messages?

Grabbed OlliOlli for PS4 this morning, slightly disheartened to learn that whilst it's cross-buy, it doesn't seem to have done any kind of cross-save shenanigans. Do I really have to unlock things all over?

Deadly Premonition is one of the most charming games ever made. It has so much personality and atmosphere. Brilliant characters, great world, good mystery and good fun.

Anyone that says otherwise leads a joyless life of hate and bitterness.
