Had a go on a PS4 yesterday and was actually dissapointed the pad didn't feel significantly different as I had been led to believe.

Yeah from my go on it I don't really understand the hype either. It just feels like a DS3 with slightly better triggers/ handles. Still wish they'd moved the stick layout personally, but I guess some people like that layout.

Obviously I only played for around 15 minutes though so I reserve the right to change my opinion!

Looks like the inevitable launch teething problems are happening, PSN has gone down and people are kicking off because their machines have died.

It looks like most system functions require a sign in or even a persistent connection as even those with the 1.5 patch installed via USB cannot use Blu ray or Remote Play

Oh dear! If Xbox one can play blurays offline oh how I'll laugh!

On a more serious note, can't play blurays not signed in? That sucks.

So you can download the patch and put it on USB obviously but the console needs to log into psn to enable blu ray and remote play?

New hardware information from several tech sources who have been pulling the console apart is that on top of the 8GB of GDDR5 RAM that the console contains it also has 2GB of DDR3 SDRAM & 256MB of flash memory for "other tasks".

To give you an idea of what that means the Wii-U in total only has that 2GB of the same DDR3 SDRAM.

It's not quite as simple as it having 10GBs of RAM as the additional 2GBs of DDR3 RAM won't be used directly for gaming purposes but it will free up the GDDR5 of non gaming tasks. This extra memory and the TrueAudio DSP chipset that AMD discussed earlier in the week (all of which weren't known about until this week) mean that there is quite a bit more processing space there than was initially believed.
