The 360 only managed 1.5mil 360s by the end of 2005 and we all know what corners got cut there.
Those shortages went on for months.

It's always a bit disheartening to see all the product failures at launch I'm sure the xbox one will have the same issues, with doa machines so no I'm not worried and I'm gonna stick with my preorder, I want a next gen console at launch and this is the sort of thing that you get for being an early adopter.

Exactly, I fully expect similar stories on Friday for the Xbox One.

I am not cancelling my pre order, still can't wait. If it's DOA then I will get it replaced, simply as that really

I expect to see some failures, but I'd be VERY VERY surprised if it's due to overheating. MS have gone overboard on their cooling efforts by the looks of it.

I watched a football match where the Chinese under 21 team kicked the Japanese team for 90 mins. One tackle was career ending. There is still plenty of tension between the nations, anything is possible.

I'm sure the number of failures is tiny - kotaku received only a dozen emails. Although the 400 amazon 1* reviews mentioning blue pulse of death is concerning.

The only consoles I've had fail was the PS1's laser (can't be arsed to fix), and the jasper Xbox360's RROD which was repaired years ago under warranty and worked from there onwards till now (with some case mods for cooling safety)

You have actually only seen that message twice in the last 2 years.
