Hi guys, long time, no posts I know!

A question for the early adopters: I was just wondering, does the PS4 controller have any charge out of the box?

No, I read that it doesn't.

Apparently sony once again have gone with old tech in the sata dept...i literally dont know how a device with usb 3.0 compatibility can only be sata2 compliant. In the pc world the two(usb 3.0 and sata3) usually go hand in hand.

I mean i really respect the fact that you can choose your own drive and install without hassle, but come on sony...

Being a slimline drive already kinda limits your options, and the momentus XT is no longer available in 7200rpm iterations...beside the fact that the 8gb ssd part has already brick walled as evidenced in a couple of tests already with PS4, and the 5400rpm 1tb version.

Guess i'll look for a cheap 250+ gb vertex 2 or something.

The first thing the PS4 asked me to do was to connect the DS4 to the PS4 via usb, so I actually never got to check.

It's down to cost, plain and simple. Just think about the tech inside a PS4 and then think about its ?350 price tag. Think about how much 8GB of GDDR5 ram must cost (take a look at PC graphics card prices). Corners must be cut to achieve this. Hopefully it's only the non-important stuff that has been stripped back.

The difference in controllers is literally pence...

On the subject of hard drives, what's the chances of my current 1TB HDD in my super slim PS3 fitting in my PS4 as I'm going to format it and swap them round. If it fits in a super slim PS3 then surely it will fit in the PS4?

And if you save pence on that and every other little thing you can save pence on then you save pounds and hit your target price point. Original PS3 had 4 USB ports. That was reduced to 2 on later revisions, not to piss people off but because it saved pence.

                      BOOM!!

                      Shopto have my money!

Now, to sit back, relax and wait for next Friday...

                      ...oh, wait.

That's actually: go to work, get overly excited for the next 9 days and hardly play it on the 29th because I'm too tired.

                        Nice one, Teddy.

Same here. In work all day Friday worrying whether the postman will bother to leave it with a neighbour. It'll be Xmas come early for us all

Such a miniscule difference could be recouped in any number of ways...dont throw in a cheap headset, dont throw in a hdmi cable, throw in less advertising etc etc etc.

It makes no sense to me producing such an impressive console, and shortchanging on something that can impact performance in a big way for next to nothing extra.

The HDD is almost always the biggest bottleneck in systems.

Sata2 is better than nothing and you can still get decent enough 250mbps sustained transfer rates...but with games with massive amounts of textures in coming years, you'd expect this base to be covered.

I've managed to wangle DAY ONE (aka launch day) and the Saturday off but I've been working 6 day weeks for the last month and I'm just utterly shattered at the moment.

Add in that my day off this Friday involves going to the Xbone midnight launch with my best mate in Southampton and I'm dying for a nap.

6 day weeks. Oof. Yeah, I feel sleepy for you. Well, get an early night on the Thursday so you can have one big 2 day long DAY ONE.

Paying my XBO off has given me a fairly realistic idea of how the PS4 will weigh in price wise next week so its now looking likely I'll be able to add NBA 2K14 to the mix.

I'm getting Ninty games at both launches so will have to queue regardless but it's nice knowing its done. Plus paying outside of launch day gives me the option of using my reward points. Aww yeah
