Edge made a retrospective list of games that they SHOULD have awarded a score of "10" but didn't at the time of the review.

Ok this was quite tough. I whittled the list down to the core of my favourite games from that 20 year period which looked something like this.

Racing.
WipEout 2097. Ridge Racer V. NFS Underground. Forza Horizon. Wave Race. F-Zero X.


Sports.
J-League Winning Eleven 9. 2010 Fifa World Cup.
FPS.
Black. Darkwatch.

Fighting.
Capcom vs SNK. Street Fighter Zero.

RPG.
Final Fantasy VIII. Final Fantasy XII. Seiken Densetsu 3. Chrono Cross. Grandia. Zelda Skyward Sword. Zelda Oracle of Seasons. Persona 3. Persona 4. Suikoden. Terranigma.

Action adventure.
Metal Gear Solid. Metroid Prime. Castlevania SotN. Super Metroid. Shadow of the Colossus. The Last of Us.

Horror.
Silent Hill 2. Resident Evil 4.

Other.
Jet Set Radio. Rez.

Out of this lot, it was extremely hard to choose but good fun giving it some thought. Apart from the number 1 slot which is definite, the rest are pretty interchangeable. Games like F-Zero, Super Castlevania IV, Street Fighter 2 Turbo and Secret of Mana miss the dates but could be there, F-Zero most certainly I feel.

So my top ten..

3)Chrono Cross.
4)Castlevania SotN.
5)The Legend of Zelda : Skyward Sword.
6)Final Fantasy VIII.
7)Terranigma.
8)Grandia.
9)Capcom vs SNK.
10)Ridge Racer V.

Last of Us and Bioshock don't deserve to be there, but otherwise a good list. 6/10 of the games of my own list made it on the TOP 20.

Bioshock is the only weak part in that list. 19 superb titles.

It's a good list, LoU doesn't deserve a place and I'm sure with the passage of time will slip off it when its not so new. The list is pretty dull though, not in terms of game quality just in terms of being pretty much the same games in roughly the same order that always get picked. There was zero doubt that Ocarina was going to top it.

More a Rose tinted glasses/best remembered game than a current playable list, more an 3/4's of them are bettered by just their sequels, and Last of Us should not be anywhere near that list.

Not at all. Games like MGS and 007 are still superb games to play. 007 had me scratching my head again when I played through it for the first time in over ten years.

Besides, if you don't look at graphics, most of those games are fully playable and enjoyable today and in some cases haven't really been bettered.

I would assume so, yes.
