i wasn't complaining about XBL being offline in the first place, i said i can't even play offline! means no single player/offline campaign or Youtube as long as XBL isn't working. great news, isn't it?

well done Microsoft, that surely must be the most embarrassing console launch ever!

Unplug it from the Ethernet and you can sign in offline


Try changing your DNS settings also, hopefully this will get you to sign in via a different server

I think I might give up on next gen for now. I was playing Titanfall and then the Ones main fan sped up to cool it down, the game crashed, everything seemed fine but then the fan started making weird noises, I have tried leaving it off for a while so now it looks like under stress something has broken or moved so that the main fan is now making a quite audible annoying noise.

Now I am going to either have to get an exchange from Microsoft or just say screw it and keep an older gen console until they can work out the kinks as I have had horrible luck so far.

So yeah might be an idea for you all to deliberately get your Xbox heated up a little to spin the fan more to check you don't have a dud fan.

i would try to get a replacement, then sell the console for new and wait for the inevitable hardware revision in a few months. meanwhile there isn't much you will miss out on anyway.

The problem is that in this situation the machine does have a connection, but just doesn't have a connection to the servers to get the next step. Unplugging the machine lets it know there is no connection at all.

At least it's not a new machine, people have not been able to log on to create a profile or do the update, the machine is unusable to do anything without those.

My friend solved his problem yesterday by renaming his console in the settings, if you are still having issues it might be worth a try.

I had issues last night - fixed by this morning. But today Netflix didn't work until 5pm.

Better than dealing drugs or watching a million films, but not as good as getting some exercise. I'm purely speculating that he doesn't have time to exercise. Happy to be proven wrong.

It's not really better than watching a million films. By the end of it you'd hopefully know an awful lot about film, providing you were paying attention. I bet he's just got an encyclopaedic knowledge of children's games with easy achievements.
