Is there a way of making updates continue downloading after I turn it off, without using instant-on? On the 360 it would do the dl and then turn off I think. Damn 3.1GB Forza 5 update That will still be going in the morning. No chance of a quick game before bed

Some warning about networks connection issues - please try installing again I JUST WANT TO PLAY A FEW GAMES WITHOUT HAVING TO PUT UP WITH THIS RUBBISH. I DON'T WANT TO GO ONLINE TODAY. GIVE ME AN "INSTALL LATER" OPTION... Sigh. Feel better now.

To be fair I had to reset the connection settings on my One this morning as the beta update for this month messed the settings up, so it might have been that. Just bad timing... And if you are in the preview program its going to mess around with stuff.

I think if a game does not have any online components then yes you should be able to run the game without updating it. Trouble is the majority of games do these days.

You can always just unplug the ethernet from the machine, that will stop the updates and let you continue through to the game.

The July update is rolling out to preview users. The snapped Achievements are neat and for those using an external drive you can choose to power it down with Instant-on.

I really like the achievement app already, even checking an achievement is better as it doesn't go to the full screen app now.

Indeed, whilst there is need for the full screen app, it would have been far better for MS to have concentrated on the snap apps first, then full screen later. Snap apps work so much better when you are in game, which is where you are most of the time anyway.

Has anyone noticed the responsiveness of kinect voice commands change? Up until recently, it has responded to my commands almost 100%, but now it almost 100% gets it wrong or refuses to notice I'm even talking. "Xbox record that" gets changed to "xbox go back" if it notices me now If I'm watching TV via the Xbox, it barely ever registers me at all, even if I just say "xbox", whereas last week I was happily able to say things like "xbox watch film 4" and it would work every time. I ran the calibration with the volume at various levels from medium to really loud, but it didn't help. Did they change something?

Also, I spent rather a long time adding fave Sky channels, but this week they are all gone and the normal sky listing says "cannot retrieve tv listings at this time" (been like that a couple of days now).....

Lately mines stopped recognising me, it will detect me saying the record command but won't always have actually done the recording. Certainly not operating as well as it was

They must have changed something, although I swear that mine has become more responsive with each update.
it's actually started accepting commands from my Girlfriend since the Beta update.

If you are on the beta dash, have a look at the location settings, mine hasn't filled in the new fields for spoken language/accent or location and is still using the old system.

Perhaps it is listening for a US twang or something

You've not switched you Xbox to US region have you?

I did that once and it took a while for me to twig as to why my TV listing weren't working

Oh right, yeah I did! I'll just change it to US when I need to for codes or whatever. I presumed because it said "English" it would be ok. Hope that fixes it. They need to separate the language from the location for kinect then, and give "English UK" and "English US" options Thanks EB. (I'm not on beta dash btw)

Funny you should say that Charles as that is in the July update, already on Beta users consoles now.
Language, Location and Spoken Language.

You can mix and match, so you can have Dutch (text), USA (location/store) and English (spoken language) very handy.

You can also mix and match TV regions too, so once you have that then you can just leave it on the US store and not have to worry about putting on an American Accent for it to work , which may explain your responsiveness issues.
