There is something very borked about the Xbox one installs. There is no good reason it should be taking that long from the disc.

      PS4: 00:32

      Just Dance 2014:
      XBO: 08:48 (including update)
      PS4: 00:45

      NBA Live 14:

Notice they don't tell you how long ps4 patches take to download in that list.

if it's anything like the PS3 you can add another hour to the launch times.

Yeah article says the time includes the patch

The xbox requires the patch to download before an install can start, where as the ps4 dosnt and downloads and installs patches in the background. The 10% power reserved for the xbox OS must not be used to help the install.

            Not strictly true

You can choose not to do the update and just install the game, then it will do the update whilst you play.
If you choose to download the patch, it won't become ready to play until the patch and the minimum data is installed.
Bear in mind that if it is a multiplayer game and an update is available, then you won't be able to play a multiplayer game until the patch is downloaded on either machine.

I'd presume that the reason the games are taking longer is that MS have mandated something somewhere.

If Microsoft had have inlcluded data management, then we'd be able to see exactly how much had been installed.

Dose it still boot you to offline if you refuse an update like it used too? also how do you instigate the update data again once you have refused it? This used to be a automatic process ever time a game started up,

Xbox checks for update it then downloads the update and once finished starts the game

So for those with both consoles with all launch games which console has given you the most fun?

Or........if you could wind back time would you rather have close to ?1000 back in your pocket?

XBox One is much better imo baring the downloads and installs I'll have to say that for all the hype over the PS4 power Ryse is the most impressive game visually too and imo a much better game than Killzone 4 as well

It's all dependent really. Ryse truly is the best looking game on either system. Not sure I'd say it's better than Killzone though. At the moment there's little difference between the two. XBO has the better launch day exclusives whereas PS4 has the better multiplatform ports generally. If I could only have one based on the systems themselves then I see no reason at all (other than to own platform exclusives or your friends list) to pay extra for an XBO instead of buying a PS4 though. Sony has the better machine this time. However, blth make a great first impression and I don't regret either.

Your having a laugh aren't you lol ryse is this generations rise of the robots, all flashy graphics and no substance. If it was on the xbox 360 and running on the unreal engine no one would even look at it, but it has that launch effect of that it will sell well becuase it's a showcase game. come 12 months you will be able to pick it up for about a fiver as the preowned shelves will be full of em.

I think I'd rather have the money back in the pocket. I'm not regretting cancelling the Xbox One order but I'm not really seeing much next gen with the PS4.

This will change I'm sure as the devs get up to speed, but I'm definitely not seeing a massive leap from our current consoles.

No I'm quite enjoying it , Its a fun game and shows off the Harfware , Much better than Killzone 4 imo - which so far is a bitter disappointment .

So ? That's always the case with most games these days , never mind launch titles.

Well I'm more than happy with both . But so far MS has the better games and by far the better joypad . XBox One dash is a bit of letdown though and for me worse than the 360 and in many ways a step backwards - I hope MS improves it soon

I remember people saying that with the 360 and it really took until Fight Night 3 and GRAW some 5 months down the line to see what the system could really do . It'll be the same for the XBox 1 though the likes of FIFA and Battlefield 4 are way above what the current systems could handle , never mind Ryse

So far 3 responses. One enjoying Xbox more, One PS4 and the other would rather have the cash back in his pocket.

It has been a really interesting launch and IMO one of the most polarised in memory.

I can't remember a launch that split opinions so much...?

Neither 360 or ps3 could ever do Killzone 4. Looks as good as any pc game on max hardware. The campaign isn't great but technically it's a massive leap forward and demonstrates what ps4 is capable of. The future is bright.
