To be fair, Sony have already included some additional functionality for the PS Camera with this in mind that WILL trump BETTER WITH KINECT:

Even tho both consoles aren't officially out over yet, i have a question.

As i only have a hd ready Panasonic plasma tv, will there be any loss in visual quality if i were to buy either of these machines?

It will depend what resolution your plasma is, but any game will scale itself to the output resolution you select on the console (720p, 1080i or 1080p). If you have your PS4 set to output 720p (presuming your plasma doesn't support 1080p) then obviously any 1080p game will be downscaled to that resolution. It will still look extremely nice, much better than current generation games, but there will automatically be quality lost because of the lower resolution. Your plasma will presumably support 1080i (and maybe even 1080p) input, but will have to scale it to the resolution of the TV,

I wouldn't worry about it too much if you don't really fancy having to buy a new TV. I'm still rocking a 32" LCD with 1366x768 native resolution. It does accept 1080p input, though will obviously downscale it to 1366x768. I don't have the expendable finances to buy a new TV though,

I'm not sure if it happens on all games this gen, but Mark Cerny said if you select 720p for Knack on PS4 it will actually downsample the 1080p game to 720p, so you'll get a nicer looking game than just clean 720p (less jaggies, more detail).

            Yes.

Because panasonics HD ready plasma's are not even 1366x768(never understood why manufacturers didn't just go with native 720p pixel counts), they are 1024x768 if memory serves.

Time to upgrade if you can afford eddie.

Xbone wont be a problem mind....

XBox One was practically made for Eddie's TV! A perfect match.

Many of the games are rendering at almost double the resolution of your TV, so you will be missing out, you may not feel like there is much of an improvement in anything with the TV you have.

                  What size is the plasma?

I'm in the same boat. The amount of "stuff" going on on the screen will obviously be greater so you'll see the visuals improve like that, but you'll lose the tiny details. It's worse with game stuff than film due to the "straight edged" nature of game worlds. It'll still look impressive though. Just don't go round to anyone else's house to play and you'll be fine

I'm waiting for the prices to plummet once 4k becomes the new 3D. I reckon current models will halve in price by this time next year. That's money that could be spent on going on holiday instead.

                      43 incher mate.

I have to say that over the past few yrs I've had an LCD LG, an LED Sony (both Full HD btw) & my current ?349 Panasonic Plasma, & despite the other 2 being more expensive than the 'cheapy' Panny Plasma, it still urinated on them when it came down to the picture quality & response rate.

Keep it then. 720p looks great imo.

Honestly, don't feel like you have to buy a new TV if you don't actually want to. Those games will still look very nice on your current TV. In fact, as other have said - some games will probably even look cleaner and less jaggy due to the downscaling.

I personally can't really afford *both* a PS4 and a new TV in the near future, so a new TV will have to wait. Maybe 4k will be cheaper by then.

Some games at the moment are 720p on Xbox One anyway (CoD, BF4 and Dead Rising 3). There's also the fact that quite a few games this gen aren't even 720p, so the fact that ALL games will be at least 720p should be an improvement to you. You're still going to get better shadows, lighting, higher poly models/maps, density of models, better draw distance etc.
