I am now thinking I will get a PS4, and for the first time I signed up to PS+ last night, didn't realise you got so many titles for free for what works out at ?3.50 a month over a year.
Last night I downloaded, Borderlands 2, Uncharted 3, Xcom, Devil May Cry and Little Big Planet Karting, which will keep me going for at least 2 months, by then I suspect there will be at least another title or two that I want to play.
Why can't Nintendo do the same?
Its just not good enough in this day and age .
People may well go on about the money Nintendo have in the bank , well so did the likes of Nokia, NEC . Money in the bank counts for nothing with out marketshare ,retail support and people wanting to buy your product and the masses don't want the Wii U . The Wii U already lost out, that will mean Nintendo lose yet more consumer and 3rd party support to it rivals, for another generation.
SONY and MS must love Iwata-san

I was thinking more along the lines of titles like Super Luigi, Pikmin, Tank Tank Tank etc.
If they were available at ?5 a month and stayed payable as long as you subscribed I think they would do well with it.
They could charge ?29.99 a month and make every new release available, I still think the developers and publishers would make more money than they are making now and I think they would get loads of people jumping back on the Nintendo train.
Think of it like a Sky service, your films and recorded programmes all come for a monthly fee, and keep them for as long as you want (as long as you keep subscribing of course) it works for the music industry, it works for the film and sports industries so why not be radical Nintendo and offer it in teh gaming world, be the first.
?5 a month for some indy games and retro titles.
?10 a month to add in a couple of games from the last year.
?20 a month to add in another couple of games from the last 6 months.
?30 a month to be able to download everything on release day.
?360 a year from me they would have.
Last year I bought Mario 3D, Windwaker and Disney Infinity, they would be up around ?200 from me alone.
And I wouldn't want to cancel either as I wouldn't want to loose the rights to play those games.

The Wii U is dead in the water as far as I can see and it's only going to get worse once XBO & PS4 start to hit their stride.
Everything about the Wii U was/is a disaster...
-Specs - basically a 3rd gen gamecube
-Almost indistinguishable from Wii to the point that casuals don't even know there is a Wii 2
-Releasing a year before XBO/PS4, serious gamers who aren't Nintendo die hards would just wait for the more powerful systems (Dreamcast anyone?)
The casual market who Nintendo cornered with the Wii now play their games on smart devices.
Nintendo have a incredible back catalogue, it's time to swallow their pride and get Mario on the iphone.
It's not like putting him on Xbox or PS. It's just what makes perfect business sense.
You gotta move with the times or sink in this industry.
The fact that they released Wind Waker HD, a 10-year old game, as a full price retail title shows just how out of touch they are.Last edited by DANGEROUS-3; 23-01-2014, 15:39.

Once Yoshi, Kirby and Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze are out, Nintendo would have released nine platform games since Super Mario 3D Land came out on the 3DS.
Nine.
If one or two of those nine platform games was a Metroid Game, an F-Zero game or a Star Fox game for Wii U, I would have a Wii U. I would imagine many others too. I am a huge fan of their games overall, but I don't want or need nine platform games.
Super Mario 3D Land.
NSMB2
Donkey Kong Country Returns
Kirby
NSMBU
NSMB Luigi
Super Mario 3D World
Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze
New Yoshi Island
NINE.

Design compatible iOS controllers, Nintendo only controllers that are based on their old designs.
NES pad, SNES pad, N64 pad.
Launch specific iOS games that exclusively use these controllers, NES/SNES/N64/ games, cash in on these old games across iOS.
Game profit AND new hardware profit.
Thank me later Iwata.

Not the hardware.
I really do think the perfect solution would be for Nintendo to make their own Steam Machine and have all their games on steam only. They would have a powerful unit that could compete/outperform Sony & Microsofts machines and there would be no worry of piracy. They could then keep releasing new more powerful Steam machines every year or 2 years.Last edited by Sam The Man; 23-01-2014, 23:10.

As has been previously mentioned, E3 2014 needs to carry some seriously weighty announcements from Nintendo, otherwise I feel at least the gaming community on here will be feeling that A) the current generation race will only be two-way throughout, and B) expecting Nintendo's next console to be announced no later than E3 2015.
Come on Nintendo. Don't scupper yourselves with the Wii U so soon! You've still got some fight in you, I believe it!

Cant forget people spouting off that same stuff ages ago.
