Reggie should take over. He'll fix the Wii-U right up.
Provided his body is as ready as he claims it to be.

Lebowski, Two Tribes always offer good launch prices and special offers - more than anyone on the Wii U, Edge was ?1.79 at launch and went up to a max of ?3.59 and it was back down over to ?1.79 over Christmas if I recall correctly.

I really liked their game Rush, which again I thinank was another block puzzler at ?1.79 at launch and may be ?3.59 now

Its not Mario that's the trouble . Its the age old trouble of lame spec, lame 3rd party support, and lack of new games coming from Nintendo/3rd parties every few months that are to blame for the Wii U piss poor sales. Nintendo has lost far to much ground on On-Line gaming , Spec's, High Def gaming, Die Hard gamers, and Big hitting 3rd party games (like Fifa,COD, GTA )to the likes of SONY and MS to every really catch up on the non hand held gaming consoles.

Also while i love the controller, its not absolutely key to the best titles, and an unnecessary expense to the overall package.

I think nintendo would be best off ditching novelty controllers next time out(if there is one), sticking with something like a pro controller, and coming in with a good price from day one...whilst affording them the ability to cut costs quicker, if need be.

If they get the install base, and with it, 3rd party support...its a winner.

They are truly their own worst enemy sometimes.

Is your patience is greater than Nintendo's stubbornness?

I like the gamepad I think it's a great addition. Just like how I like remote play on PS4.

NeoGAF user wsippel reckon Nintendo are working on a new system. I think it'd be smart move, I dont think the Wii U can make it now...

It's straightforward what Nintendo need to do to get back in the game:

                  - Spec on par with PS4/Xbox One
                  - Normal controller
                  - Similar online infrastructure
                  - invest in some new dev teams
                  - Mario game out the gate

That's surely a recipe for success. Basically stop being all things to all people and just be a gaming machine, end of.

Call it the NES, and the next non-gimmick handheld a Game Boy, too!!

Or they could go third party.. Or concentrate on the 3DS and multiplat ... Yeah right

Thing is, Nintendo will be working on the next console now just as Sony and MS will have someone already planning out PS5 and XB4, it's the way they work, but despite the slow sales a replacement for WiiU won't hit for at least another 3-4 years, they'll drive on for now as it'd be even worse commercial suicide to kill WiiU anytime soon than keep it going. The damage of publicly displaying no trust in their own hardware would severely damage any replacement system. They'll hold out and play the plucky underdog comeback card just as they have before. They can afford to too, their massive $250m loss this year is equivalent to a mere 1.3% of the companies worth, hell they're worth more than Sony. The next system will be Nintendo's 7th console gen, there will be at least a 9th, it's why they never panic... for better or worse.

                          Amen to that.

The 3ds ditched 3d with the 2ds...this means its a distinct possibility that the WiiU may go the same way re the pad situation.

Cut that expense out, and hit the ?129.99-?149.99 mark, and i could see the WiiU take off big style.

I would only miss the gamepad for VC games in truth.

Ditching 3D isn't the same as ditching the Wii-U controller, though, because the 3DS already has a 2D mode.

Sure, you might not consider the controller useful but others may miss it. Plus, there are games being made now by Nintendo themselves and third parties that use it. Imagine developing a game only to find Nintendo have decided to axe the pad in a few months' time.
