So.... In regards to Mario Kart as a whole I cannot wait for this.

I got to play it a wee bit last year back at Gamescom and it really is quite stunning to look and feels every bit as solid as you would hope. I like how Nintendo are putting a bit of a spin on the track layouts, however the levels i got to play didnt really feel much different with the anti-gravity trick - which you could argue is a good thing? I would love to see some crazy level design though, really hoping for an inspired rainbow road. Thought the one on the wii was fantastic - need the next big leap up!

I remember thinking the online for the wii was pretty good... Is that right to say? Apart from no voice chat, i often had a blast (unlike Smash Bros - which quite simply never worked for me online). Am looking forward to hearing more about 8's online - has the potential to be fantastic.

Am still loving my Wii U very much - Donkey Kong has had me addicted and i'm loving still playing Zelda, Mario and Pikmin. NintendoLand always gets pulled out when the little one has friends over (or even for some adult drinking games!)

Slowly more people from work are buying a Wii-U, which is great to see. A lot, it seems, are waiting for Mario Kart -

Also... on a side note - the recent box arts have been awesome. I was looking at them yesterday compared to others. It seems more and more appear to follow a generic formula of the main character posing central of the box...

Maybe because i'm still a child at heart - but i just love how bright, colourful, playful and fun Nintendo's recent boxarts have been. Obviously it is a complete contrast in tone -

course they are, the cover departments have 6 times less work to do than others (slow output) so they can spend a month making a cover (Kidding even though sadly it is kinda true)

I'm all over MK8, as you say it looks and plays great so hopefully the full game marks one of the series highs. Past that though it all rests on E3 for me now, as much as I love Nintendo hardware and have had launch machines through their whole lives, I'm running out of steam with it.

X doesn't interest me as I'm tired of the whole jrpg genre, don't really care about Bayonetta 2 and that mostly leaves Smash Bros for which everything revealed so far makes it vibe like a Brawl remake, an entry that left me cold, so I'm more inclined to get the 3DS version. All in all, I love the hardware but if Ninty don't announce some hard hitters I don't see any reason for me not to sell up and leave the system till its pittance second hand in 2 or so yrs time and catch up then on the cheap.

This looks a better Limited Edition pre-order, than say GAME's.

I did as well when I noticed some actual gameplay discussion. Albeit that occured after you posted the above.

The blue shell is everything I've never liked about Mario Kart refined (yep, even the SNES version). It helps out the people falling behind who lack the racing skills. That doesn't mean it's not fun, but it shouldn't really be taken seriously. I've always preferred F-Zero for seriousness.

                Wipeout can GTF too.

If you are taking Mario Kart seriously, you are playing it wrong.

It's interesting how we have had HD resolution games for years now yet having only just entered this resolution frey, their games just jump out the screen like your only just seeing hd done for the first time.

                      Wipeout is awesome.

Wii U boxes look great because they have dropped the sterile white of the Wii.

Good point, this. I guess when devs are using HD mostly to render grey/brown military installations it doesn't impress in quite the same way.

BTW: are Nintendo doing a Mario Kart WiiU bundle?

No word on that Golgo. And yeah, Nintendo in HD is a breath of fresh air. Super Mario 3D World had, for me, amazing visuals. So colourful, crisp and smooth.

By light years).
Obviously you haven't played enough of any recent Mario Kart with comments like this. Skill totally determines the winner in the long run. I've played thousands of races in Mario Kart DS/Wii/7 so I actually know what I'm talking about.

Besides, it's not like you couldn't lose because of items in the original Mario Kart and the Red Shell was way over-powered in it. In fact so over-powered that we house ruled that you couldn't use it in multiplayer against the other player because it ruined the fun of actual racing.

The only way to settle this is with a one-on-one Mario Kart showdown. No bots, no weapons, no nuffink.

I don't think 'I've played ****loads of Mario Kart' is a valid argument on this forum either. Cos, um, haven't we all? It's Mario Kart!
