When you play it Hoolak, do me a BIG favour and solely play the challenges for a couple of days. I want to know your impressions of it should it have been a standalone game of hardcore Mario assault.

Sorry Dave, were you talking about MK8 or NSMB? If so, did you mean they should force you to get to grips with it via challenges first?

NSMBU.

I meant they should have probably demonstrated the game design genius and innovation through the challenges in a more forceful manner, rather than leaving them on the side for people to stumble on through chance. It's where the heart of the game is as far as I'm concerned, and as a result it's slowly becoming my favourite 2D Mario game.

I'd like to read the opinions of someone playing it exclusively from that perspective.

You should probably let your lad smash through 1p/co-op with you, whilst you tackle the challenges after hours.

It's an action game with the most complex battle system to date. Think Viewtiful Joe mixed with DMC3/Bayonetta.

No, although in my personal opinion I found the introductory levels to be a little too bland/familiar/safe; I don't know, I can't really put my finger on it. The later stages are immense.

These guys are annoying, but it gives you the idea...

I've managed to get in the state I get every E3 for the WiiU where I think a whole load of Awesome is going to be revealed. I don't yet own one but every time I think FZero, Starfox and a whole load of other Awesome will be revealed.

Won't be getting it as free game. That'll be MH3U. Now, you are making me wonder whether NSMBU before Mario 3D World!

Yeah, I played he beginning of SMW a couple of weeks back to compare and found that that was also quite bland/safe/familiar at the start. Rose tinted specs and all that. I suppose it was fresh at the time, mind.

SM3DW will be better for co-op with your lad.

I don't think it close tbh . Nothing beats Mario IV , that said this is a great Mario title and great fun .
