So technical differences are as we might expect. PS3 and 360 are 720p at 30fps, Xbox one is 720p at 60fps with better effects etc. and ps4 is 1080p at 60fps. Pleased to see that increased power has been put into frame rate. Video coming later today apparently.

There will be some tricks with the hardware and the SDK that will mitigate it somewhat, so games coming out over the next couple of years will probably be ok, but at some point the PS4 will put ahead pretty significantly from a framerate and resolution point of view, once they get more technical. The One will still be able to do those games, just at a lower frame rate. Turning off Kinect will not solve the issue.

Genuine questions.
The PS4 has an 8gb bank of very fast GDDR memory which it uses for the GPU and system memory.
It also has a better specced GPU.
The Xbox has 8GB of slower DDR ram which is shared between the CPU/GPU.
Then to mitigate this bandwidth bottleneck for the DDR being slower and GPU based stuff needing fast ram to work better, it has 32mb ESRAM, which is insanely fast RAM embedded within the actual GPU/CPU chip itself.
The Xbox one has a marginally faster CPU though.
The ESRAM is expensive to produce as it requires more stuff to be fitted on the die, which initially decrease the number of valid chips that will will come of the production line. The other ram will all be standard chips produced by a memory supplier, in both the Xbox and PS4.
The 360 used the same setup, so it was already tried and tested. Sony threw a curveball with their RAM, which was doubled after the reveal of the Xbox Ones specs.Last edited by EvilBoris; 17-02-2014, 13:21.

I think the last gen versions actually look alright, but 60fps is the way forward for me. Really looking forward to it personally, not sure why there's so much fuss because it's main campaign is short...

GDDR5 was still very expensive when they were designing the console because of the low yield rate. Sony took the gamble that costs and yield rate would fall, and this gamble paid off.
RAM is not the only reason why the PS4 is the faster machine (though it is a major reason). The PS4 also uses a 50% faster GPU.
