?399 is really the maximum that the console should have been priced at in the first place, and even then, it might not be so compelling for people who don't want Titanfall.

It's curious that Microsoft decided to price the console at almost the same initial price as the PS3 - ?429. It's as if Microsoft paid absolutely no attention to Sony's initial struggles with their machine. ?429 is psychologically much higher than ?349 or ?399, no matter how good a deal it might be.

Yeah that too. There was no need for an internet connection at all once activation had taken place. Adobe don't need that for their system. They should have done that. I don't know why they didn't. I can only assume it was to appease retail but even that makes no sense. As long as retail can continue to sell new and used disc games what's the problem?

Titanfall is on 3 platforms so I expect it will. If infamous scores well then I'd expect a high attach rate for that game. Potentially appeals to a broader range of gamers than titanfall.

I saw the price drop was UK only and thought you lucky gits!

Then I realised even at ?399 it works out at $738au and that bundle is going for $599 here! Christ you guys are getting fleeced. Just looking at the PS4 and that's ?349 there ($645au) and goes for $549 locally.

Poor sods! At least Titanfall is included now.

^By comparison, the PS4 is ~?251 in Japan with Knack, 2 year warranty and 3 months PS+. The UK prices of both consoles are eye-watering.

Why are they so high compared to other markets?

We do pay VAT included in price, which some markets do not, hence our 20% or so price increase.

Its just them getting rid of the bonus uk tax we always get lumped with, it's costing them very little in real terms as the pound is stronger now than the dollar was at launch, in November price ?429x($1.52=?1) = $652, this price ?399x($1.66=?1) = $662. They are making $10 more due to currency fluctuation. It's also ?40 more as Titanfall is multiplayer only so really you have to have a gold sub and although there is a month packed in who is not going to get the live sub, it's not a bad deal but with it not being exclusive quite a few people will go. "Ok ?400 right ?30-40 for a PC/X360 copy of Titanfall and a PS4" unless they intentionally gimp the other versions bar X1. I still really want Dead Rising 3 though

Honestly, some people make it look like a conspiracy. There a corporation that exists to sell products and make a profit, Both Sony & MS do this, if we dont like it the we all have the free choice not to buy their products. Or, wait a few years for it all to fall in price and not jump in at the deep end on launch.

Back to titan fall, while i like the look of the multiplayer, i can't help shake the feeling that this first one is a prototype of sorts for a much, much bigger future entry, which im sure is already penciled in.

Prototype your having i a laugh, this is more the evolution of where call of duty should be now, they have taken the massive battles you get in battlefield and somehow distilled that to make a more intense game without the need to hike between battles, its amazing fun and i can't wait to pick this up on the 11th, I'm glad they have taken the bold move to focus completely on the online side of things too.

Never said it was not every company but this price drop costs them nothing but its still decent of them to pass the saving on. Hell worst offenders of all would be Apple and Sony have screwed the UK for years on hardware (of all types be it gaming or electronics) It is a savvy move by MS with this bundle though to include only 1month live with a multiplayer only game.

No I'm not having a laugh, plus you took me out of context. Never said it looks bad, it just looks like a product that is made to fill a funding gap until it's big brother steps into the lime light. It's probably brilliant fun to play I'm sure. Though I don't personally think it will shift consoles, will surely sell well to the existing base.

Welcome to Finland where you can pre-order (because we don't even have it yet) Xbox One (with no games) for the modest price of €549 (~?453)!

I doubt you'll find a better price than this for the Titanfall bundle...

                              ?369.97!
