Well, looks like I missed all the PGR2 fun. I personally think the game is over-hyped and over-rated to the extreme. NAMCO's new racer is far closer to what I was looking for in terms of handling and speed than Bizarre's "creation". Playing R:RE after a session on Gotham 2 is like a breath of fresh air, so silky smooth and nippy, such close tight rivalry with the other cars, and with absolutely no visible detail deficiency either. They could of done so much better with PGR2, but as usual it's being lapped up and showered with praise because of it's prequel's reputation. Anyway, sorry I'm late to the party on this one, and I'll shut up again now as this thread has derailed enough times already.

Here's a quote from my editor "Who wrote that crap?"

Don't shoot me, i'm just the messenger

You'll find it's being showered with praise because it's better than the sequel. Oh, and don't bother buying the issue when we review R:RE, you're not going to like it

Just of of interest, do you have the GameCube version of R:RE?

Several people have no doubt said that about your PGR2 review already, so meh.

Prequel surely? Good job your mag gets better proof reading than your posts.

Nope. Nice try at a snipe though, I see where you wanted to take that. Xbox version here.

Yeah, you're quite right, my posts do need proof reading.

The only reason I asked if it was the Cube version is because everyone is raving about it at the moment and I can't see what the fuss is about. Indeed, that's the only version I've had a chance to play on at the moment and in my own opinion, it's not a patch on PGR2.

Anyway, as you already stated, you were late for the party and there's more to the issue than simply PGR2. What shall we rip apart next?

Strider you need to get some goddamn perspective, all car racing games pale in comparison to the mighty GT Cube, obviously you've never played it.....tsk.

Yup, they sound ok to me. So what's the problem then too high, too low?

I've worked it out, in a really really geektastic event I'd thought I'd point out this:

                        GameCube Reviews: 2
                        Xbox Reviews: 14
                        PlayStation 2 Reviews: 6
                        PC Reviews: 4

                        Multiformat Game Reviewed: 8

I'm no king of balance, but all the multiformat games seem to be reviewed on the Xbox, what's the problem? Only get you games from Warez sites? Nintendo can't trust you with a Teal cube, a geez at least you could spread them out a bit, whats the deal, come on, spill the beans.....

When the mag was first launched, the idea behind the multiformat reviews was to review what was deemed the best version. Although this is obviously not the case any more.

Mart TM will be able to fill you in on the rest. As for console specific stuff, if there's not a lot of games available, there isn;t a lot we can do about it

If multiple code comes in, we'll review the one we deem to be the best - however, sometimes we only get one version (ranging from Xbox through PS2 to PC... but strangely, never GameCube) and then our options are limited. Don't ask me why it happens, it just does - for instance, I'd have covered the PC version of BG&E if we'd have been sent it, but we weren't. That's the way it goes, I'm afraid.

Where's your journalistic fervor? I can't imagine how hard it is to actually get review code, but needless to say, for the integrety of the magazine a bit of actual tracking down and getting review code might help? Or is it simply a case of sitting back and hoping the publishers divvy out the goods?

Firstly, don't be an idiot. Secondly, "yes" magazines have to wait (and pray!) they get damn review code. Most of the PR departments for games companies in Britain are run by ignorant and lazy ****ehawks (most of whom don't even play games themselves and are consequently bloody clueless about their products). Moreover, almost all Japanese/American code has to be sourced through whatever European branch that is publishing it (see above comment on ****ehawks).
