You don't have to say anything derogatory in order to undermine something, especially if you are affiliated with it. Moreover, "jesting" is not always a particularly inclusive device (it just looks that way).
So how is talking to our readers undermining the magazine?
Maybe you'd prefer us to take a more elitist attitude and simply ignore you all?

just one tiny comment about the import feature (sorry if its already been mentioned), you say to get the sender to mark down the value of the goods being sent to avoid import duty and VAT, wouldn't customs and excise have something to say about that?

          Nah, they're a friendly bunch

Pretty much, you will find that most importers will mark items down if asked, but most wont as a matter of course due to the legality of it all. I cant say Ive ever had a problem with customs myself, and often ask for things to be marked down, I guess it depends on how much you are prepared to take a small risk to save a few bob.

Not much chance of that... didn't you hear? We're a pale imitation of EDGE, with all the flavour sucked out. At least, that's what I read...

Just as I say this, I get a call from home saying the package sent over from Play Asia attracted ?16 custom charges before it was handed over.

I should so keep my mouth shut next time!!

                      No, silly.

Just pointing out what everyone said when we first came on the scene over a year ago... has it been that long already? Jeez. You'll be telling me I'm nearly 30 next. What? I am?

                      ****.

                        Not everyone mart, not everyone!

I think that the magazine has only gone from strength to strength, and have never had any real complaints.

                        Merry Christmas!

I`ll keep this simple, I dont agree with the PGR 2 review on a few points:

                          - `Razor sharp AI` I cant see this, they seem stupid. Yes, they can race well but also appear to have little idea of where you are on the road, thus all I can say is mediocre AI.
                          - At no point was their a mentioning of the dilution of the origional PGR ethos, which was the powersliding. At its core PGR 2 is far more of a serious racer than either of its two iterations, however this was not even mentioned. For me this was a glaring ommision, and as such has led to a fair degree of disappointment with the title.
-No mention of the difficulty spikes (most platinums are fine however some challenges really are unexpectedly hard).

The only other thing I have to say is that the qoute that gamesTM does not appear to have a unified voice is also echoed by me, which is a shame. The magazine is a good read and well informed, however I still feel uneasy with some of your reviews.

Still, good luck and keep it up

I'm with nips. I wasn't such a big fan of the magazine initially but its gone from strength to strenght.

I know I pick up GamesTM and Edge every month and enjoy them both. The standard of journalism is a hell of alot better than you'll find on the net.

                              Well said nips

With the exception of a little too much CG being used in the covers, it is a great read, another good thing Ive found very usefull this month, is the list of good games near the back.
The idea of having a top 20 recomended of new and old games for that system is genius, better than listing every game and review, and a damn site better than not listing anything.

Ive gone back several times this issue, to help fill up my want list, and to help when getting gifts for relatives.

Its the little touches like that, that really make it for me.

Anyway, Id also ask like nips for a christmas subscription, but I already have one.

i absolutely, totally agree on the recommended lists at the back of tm - i've only had my ps2 a couple of months, and i spotted quite a few games on there i hadn't even thought about picking up.

also, all that undermining-the-magazine stuff: what? speaking as a lurker for ages and occasional poster to the forum, i've gotta say that i'm way more inclined to pick up a copy of gamestm (i've only really been aware of it for the past two or three issues, which is a shame, 'cause it's really rather good) because some of the writers post here. lack of sniffy aloofness: check. genuine interest in / passion for games: check. willingness to stand up for their opinions in the mag: yep, that too. it's all good.

although... gamestm people? a little '60hz?' box in the game-information bit in the reviews would be really, really nice...
