They should have continued to take hardware serious after the GC instead of the misguided(in the long term)attempts to capture a whole new market...the market that seems to have now abandoned them.

That made them hundreds of millions, given, as one-off revenue, but they're still a richer company for it.

If they'd went down catering purely for core Nintendo fans they might've wound up and just be releasing Pokemon games now.

Nintendos massive failings have all been well discused and are well documented facts on why they utterly failed with the wiiU, we've all been over that many times now.

I would say quality, design, gameplay are not one of them thankfully.

I'm still sad at the negativity towards ninty these days after all this. Can't we just take things for what they are instead of expecting a new AAA release on a weekly basis?

After all there is still playstation and xbox for the multi formats.

Gotta agree with Dave on that. Same for stuff like halo collection too, games shouldn't bee released in that state, 40gig day one downloads? No thanks, maybe some actual testing would help before releasing a multi million pound product might help?

I purchased my Wii U knowing it was a dead duck but I could not let quality titles go unplayed. I figured I would grab the console at the lowest price I could in order to play approx 10 games that I would get enjoyment from. Bonus that these titles are extra polished and allow a 5 year old to play too (apart from bayo2!). The Wii u is the best console for my son from a rose tinted perspective as he is growing up playing the classic Nintendo titles and some fantastic indie games. (Scram Kitty, Shantae: Pirate's Curse, )

I have ripped into the Wii u many times for it's pants design (IMO), rubbish/confusing marketing message and typical crap business decisions. For me, ultimately it comes down to the games and I honestly cannot remember the last time I had this much fun enjoying my gaming.

Yes DriveClub has went through its issues, but its looking and playing great now. (thats the build i am commenting on it).

Have you played it? I mean actually sat down for a few hours to properly play it?

I've played Drive Club. It's wonderfully average. Nothing about it bar the weather screams next gen. It's no more exciting than the likes of Shift and PGR. It hasn't moved on at all.

And anyone who thinks SM3DW is a rehash of SM3DL is a bell-end, let's set that straight.

I must be a bell end then, from my point of view it shares power ups, graphic style and a lot of level design with 3DL, its got a hell of a lot in common with it. Add in the fact that its a 3d game where Mario jumps on stuff and collects coins and your not a million miles away from 3dl which is one of my fave 3ds games.

We do seem to be going round in circles in this thread the same detractors and defenders have come in time and time again and you do seem to feed them Dave, I think were at crossed purposes, in that you have started attacking anyone who has anything slightly negative to say, im a wiiu owner and supporter, i think its a great system with the best games out of the new systems, but the horizon looks pretty bleak this year.

Yay! 1 day after my birthday. I really enjoyed Magic Paintbrush, I had a go on it the other day. They should bundle a big pink stylus for the gamepad with this like the one they included with the JPN DS game.

From the posts in here, it looks like the majority of people in here also have a PS4 and/or XBox One.
Just curious, really, based on people saying that the WiiU games are very good, but there are only a handful of them.

Also, let's remember to be gentlemen to each other.
Playing games is a completely subjective thing. Different types of games engage our minds and imaginations in different ways. Some like score attacks, others a narrative and others like free roaming experiences, for example.

We should encourage each other to try things we've enjoyed, but you can't say people are right or wrong if they don't like it.

As for sm3dw. How many companies can make a game that good, without a story, gun, masses of cutscenes, voice acting. Just solely relying on the sheer fun factor of the core gameplay, only EAD can acheive this time and time again.

Yeah, I only have a Wii U from the current gen crop.

MGS5, Persona 5 and Witcher III will change that later on this year though.

PC and WiiU. I'm honestly overwhelmed, and have yet to 100% (1000g/Platinum?) any of my WiiU games.

That's my next-gen wants list. There's no where near enough for me to invest in hardware any time soon. I said elsewhere that if people were still playing Halo 2 (MCC) by March I'd buy an XB1 on my birthday and join them... Turns out they might only get to start playing it by March.

I played it for a while back when it was f**ked. Offline. It hardly sold me the console in any way and I'm in no rush to try it again to be honest.

EDIT: and dataDave. Good to see there's plenty to keep you busy on it. I'm still working my way through my 360/PS3/XBox Games With Gold/PS+ games to upgrade yet and at this rate, I think I'll end up skipping a generation, so I know what you mean.
