Thing is, I like Mario Party, except for the actual board game bit. I find those tedious as they're too random.

But that's the thing. Mario Party is defined by its board game style.

Mario Party really hasn't been very good for years now.
True but the last Wii games was a decent effort. OK it's totally random but tons of fun. Miles more variety that Nintendo Land.

          That's highly debatable.

Well I've played a decent amount of it and it's good. Reviews also suggested it was the best entry for ages.

Reviews across the board suggest Mario Party 9 to be average.

                I thought 5/10 was average

Okay, a little above-average at best then.

Mario Party 9 is still a mediocre game.

Maybe one of you prefer it to the other?

Just ordered WiiFit U with the step-counter thing from Amazon, after finding a balance board in GAME for ?5 in very good condition (it looked like it'd hardly been used).

A quick sanitising with some surface wipes and I just had a jump on the Mario Sonic Winter Games for the Wii, which I had lying around; the skiing, snowboarding and bobsledding were great fun on the board.

One thing which is frustrating is that I wanted to get WiiFit U from the eShop, but it's ?30 for just the digital release. At Amazon it's ?20 with the step-counter. That's a bit of a joke. Shame, too, as it's the kind of game/application which is ideal for having on the machine all the time.

I mean I'd rather have my teeth pulled than play Skyrim or COD but I accept they're good at what they are even if that's something that's not for me.
I think it's the other side of the coin entirely. I wonder how many skilled gamers here have achieved 100% with NSMBU, Smash, or any of the other games on your list (besides Captain Toad, and maybe MK8)? I'd like to know so that I can pass them a medal forged from solid gold.

It took me around one week to platinum Bloodborne, yet here I am two years later still smashing my head against a brick wall with stuff like TW101 and NSMBU.

And I feel the likes of MK8, TW101, SMBU, SMW, and Bayonetta have enough depth to keep me playing for a good while yet.

Having watched a lot of gameplay videos I'm starting to buy into the hype for E3 announcements now

Super Mario Maker, Star Fox Zero and Animal Crossing amiibo Festival all on preorder with Amazon. I may go for Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash too if it reviews seriously well (8/10 consensus and 32+ in Famitsu).

                          What a sucker I am...

In other news Kirby: Mouse Attack (Squeak Squad to some of you) and Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards hit VC in Europe this week.

I thought you only go for 85+ Metacritic games?

Well I don't have a mainstream console anymore, just a Wii U so I have to lower the bar/take what I can get from Nintendo.

I'm going to stick it out with WiiU to finish Yoshi, Devils and Starfox review dependent and then after SFZ it's going. The more I see of Mario Maker the weaker it looks and Nintendo doesn't deserve my ? for the rest of the line up.
