Gestation is a pretty meaningless term in this context - you're right, it's procrastination. A guy could have the idea for a MM remake, make a note, remind himself of it every couple of months and begin work 10 years later and hammer it out in a week and we could call it 10 years gestation. Doesn't really mean it took 10 years to make.

Yeah, there's slow and then there is inefficient though. The one thing some of the early droughts demonstrate is a lack of preparation for the launch of their own hardware. It's like they spend a few years developing hardware and then release that hardware and then someone has a think... takes a sip of coffee... thinks some more and then says, "so should we start making games for this now?".

Edit. One thing that really annoys me with Nintendo is seeing miyamoto messing around with stupid robot demos and camera tech demos, stuff that is never going to come out or be bothered with by them, and bigger projects being pushed back. Efficiency guys, focus!Last edited by fishbowlhead; 01-04-2015, 10:45.

Nintendo delivered a confused message with the Wii U. This lost them the massive casual following they gathered with the Wii as casuals saw no need for a tablet when they already owned an iPad.
I am glad Zelda has been pushed back as the Wii U is underpowered for a game of this scope (imo). Sure Mario 3D land looks amazing but it does not deliver scope on the level the new Zelda proposes, especially if they want to keep the magical 60fps. If the new Zelda is going to be a launch title for the NX then it has to be a OOT beater, those are the stakes Nintendo has to deal with.

Super Mario Sunshine in HD, however, would/could be an absolute visual feast. So much colour...

Nintendo are so far behind the times in terms of 3rd party support, retail support , In-House and 1st development support , tech, Multi Media and online gaming for a home console - That its hard to see how they can ever get back to competing with SONY and MS . The problems are so big and so ingrained that just making a new console is hardly going to address many of Nintendo issues (non mobile/handheld) . I mean they haven't even got a phone app for the Wii U bless them .

Since when did having a phone app give you a better console experience?
I would be more inclined to get their online accounts system sorted; it's so poor that it's embarrassing.Last edited by thetrooper; 01-04-2015, 12:37.

Simple little featurs that even a 8 years old take for granted in the modern age, with their mobile and home systems .
I'd go with thetrooper in so far as that Nintendo have more immediate and pressing problems than worrying about phone apps that are largely (at this moment in time) more style than substance.Last edited by Nu-Eclipse; 01-04-2015, 12:44.
