At least I don't have to worry about buying many games in the future.
Abysmal show. When they started the Star Fox video I thought it was the N64 game...

The shame is that any lagging sales for Starfox will make Nintendo think it's due to lack of interest in the ip rather than a reflection of the effort put into the game by themselves

You never know, it might review awfully which you would hope would give them a sign.

I'm amazed that the general opinion is positive.

OK, I'm going to be honest, whilst there were issues with the Nintendo presentation, I'm surprised to see such an immediate, negative reaction to Starfox Zero. I'm still really looking forward to it.

I like the new vehicles, I liked what I could glean about the gameplay from the video, I honestly didn't have any problems with what I saw. People are complaining about how it looks worse than Starfox Assault, but wasn't Starfox Assault crap?

I guess I'm just glad they didn't do a Starfox Command. It looks like a Starfox game.

I'm just willing to give it the benefit of the doubt before I hope it tanks to somehow teach Nintendo a lesson. It might play really, really well. I'd prefer it looked **** if that's the case, rather than a better-looking crap game.

            ^Truth.

But it does seem weird that some of these games look so poor visually. I agree that if they play great then that trumps visuals but I think the poor visuals are a very bad sign. And when you're showing off games, you aim to impress and Nintendo failed to do that here. Compare that to how we (well, I) reacted when I saw MK8 on the WiiU. Or Kid Icarus on the 3DS. Starfox and that other game (you know the one) are lagging so far behind.

Absolutely! I have no problems with stuff playing ace, even if it could look a lot better. It may be going back a bit but I championed their visual decisions on F-Zero X for that very reason.

This looks exactly like a Starfox 64 remix/HD remaster. Actually the non-Corneria parts don't look half as exciting as the rest of SF64, a game from 1997 (and remastered perfectly fine for the 3DS three years ago). I think this plays slightly slower as well.

Playing Kirby and the Rainbow Paintbrush and saw this caption... It may be the most Ironic thing Nintendo could put opposite a Wii U logo.

This is kinda my point - I think we've seen far too little to make those kinds of conclusions.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not defending Nintendo here. The purpose about a trailer is to get players enthused about the game, and in this case, the trailer has very much failed for most people.

I just still think it might turn out well.

Well let's certainly hope so. It would appear they have an overly insane amount of work on their hands. The cockpit view / cinematic view looks like it would be better scrapped.

Hyrule Warriors turned out alright. You never know.

The game to console attach rate must be shockingly low ? I know I've about 10 or 12 WiiU titles , sure they're pretty great but I feel completely unsatisfied if I'm honest

Just watching the Yoshi Wooly World stage demo on Gamespot and omg i am sitting here literally smiling from ear to ear. After all the blood and guts that most of this E3 has been showing, this is just so (dare i it) sweet, ahhh i feel so happy just watching it lol. It is really stunning, cant wait for this now.

Miyamoto could just be a statesman they wheel out for the press but he's too experimental and weird now, Wii Music and most his Wii work was an abomination, Mario Maker isn't what they should be making, at least not as their AAA killer app and Star Fox seems to have no creative vision it's a load of square pegs in round holes to solve issues around a use for the gamepad, make an Arwing Amiibo and bring back characters he likes.

Iwata just seems to be making himself ill he's so out of his depth now.

Aonuma is arrogant and lost sight of the fact he's a game maker not an artist. He seems to think he's John Lennon and he's making the final Beatles album.

The three have just lost the plot and Nintendo would be fine without them, look at the best received Wii U games:
I don't really understand this stance of placing blame on the old guard of game designers like Miyamoto-san and Aonuma-san (I assume you would include Tezuka-san in there too) for Nintendo's woes.

It isn't really their fault that Nintendo seem incredibly clueless when it comes to modern console hardware design. Nor is it their fault that major third-party devs pretty much want nothing whatsoever to do with Nintendo hardware now.

It's the hardware that is the problem imho, not necessarily the software.

I don't think it's as simple as that. I think it's that Nintendo consoles have a certain leaning and many multiformat games (or even attempts at breaking out something different on a Nintendo machine, such as ZombiU) don't fit that. The GC was well up there in specs and that too suffered from less 3rd party support, albeit not in the same league as the WiiU. Huge sellers such as the Wii and the DS seemed to fail to deliver the numbers when a great game that might sit on a different console came out. GTA Chinatown Wars should have cleaned up. Massive userbase plus huge franchise plus actually being a really good game. But seemingly it didn't.

There is more to it than just hardware.

Also worth noting that Nintendo themselves effectively become a 3rd party's biggest competitor on their systems.
